Default My top 5 episodes of each season

I’ve just started a rewatch of the series and when I finish each season, I’m going to list my top 5 favorite episodes from each season.

Then I’ll list my top 5 episodes of the entire series.

Season 1
1. “Witch”
2. “Prophecy Girl”
3. “Out of Mind, Out of Sight”
4. “The Puppet Show”
5. “Never Kill a Boy on the First Date”

Worst episode of season 1: “The Pack”

I'm back into my Buffy phase again. Without a doubt one of the best shows ever to hit TV. Here's my list for top 5 episodes from each season.

Season 1
  1. The Puppet Show
  2. Nightmares
  3. Witch
  4. Prophecy Girl
  5. Angel

Season 2 (this is so hard to pin down only 5 episodes)
  1. School Hard - The introduction to Spike & Dru. This is a classic, plus we see some bad ass moves from Joyce to protect her daughter.
  2. Innocence - I remember what a huge episode this was back when it aired. My classmates and I were talking about this in school because it was shocking to see Angel become evil.
  3. Becoming 2 - Again, this was a huge episode from Buffy back during its run. We didn't know if Angel would have stayed dead because it was very climatic how it came about.
  4. I Only Have Eyes For You
  5. Killed By Death - I like that we get to see some of Buffy's childhood in this episode.

Honorable mentions: Lie To Me, The Dark Age, Ted, and Bad Eggs. All fun filler episodes that are worth watching.

Season 3
  1. Gingerbread - This episode is a classic. It's my favorite from season 3 because of how funny it is and Joyce getting to be front and center for a change.
  2. Bad Girls - I love seeing Buffy get influenced by Faith's bad behavior and them thinking they're God's and can do anything.
  3. Enemies - Everyone learning Faith is evil and working for the Mayor was a classic story in Buffy. No one predicted an evil slayer.
  4. The Wish - Of course Anya's introduction episode is on my top fave list.
  5. Dopplegangland - Of course Anya's second episode is another fave I also like Vamp Willow interacting with our Willow. "Hands! Hands!"

Honorable mentions: The rest of season 3. It's definitely the prime of Buffy.

Season 4
  1. Hush - Best episode of the series IMO. It's freaky as hell and we get to see Tara who later becomes part of my favorite TV couple, Willow & Tara
  2. Living Conditions - Classic Buffy. This episode is so hilarious. The toenail scene is by far some of the funniest things in Buffy.
  3. This Year's Girl & Who Are You - It's a two parter making it one long episode IMO Faith's return was really well written. Sarah did a great job acting as Faith when they switched bodies.
  4. The Yoko Factor - I like this episode mainly for the fight scene between the scoobies. When Willow says Tara is her girlfriend, Giles replies, "bloody hell" was funny and unexpected.
  5. New Moon Rising - Gotta put this up because we get the show's best couple ever, Willow & Tara.

Honorable mentions: Something Blue and A New Man are great episodes as well.

Season 5
  1. The Body - Without a doubt, this episode was the best for the season. It was really shocking how real the show can get at times. Anya's speech still remains the best of any show because we almost all feel that way when someone we love dies.
  2. No Place Like Home - FINALLY we learn what Dawn is. I remember when this was airing fans thought Dawn always existed but we never saw her. Well they were wrong since she was only a few months old in the show.
  3. Forever - Buffy's breakdown over her mom's death still gets to me.
  4. Triangle - Classic Anya and Willow episode. I still laugh my ass off when Willow tells Anya, "I have faith in you. There is no one you cannot piss off"
  5. The Gift - Buffy dies again and we're all left wondering how will she be back.

Season 6
  1. Tabula Rasa - This IMO is the best episode of season 6. The funny one liners and the acting from everyone when their characters have amnesia is funny to watch. "Randy Giles? Why not just call me horny Giles or desperate for a shag Giles. I knew there was a reason I hated you."
  2. Doublemeat Palace - I know I'm listing the funny episodes but they were really good! Buffy thinking the beef was people and freaking out was funny. "It's people! The meat layers are people! Maybe not the chicken part, but who knows! Who knows?!" then the old lady replies, "What about the cherry pie?"
  3. Wrecked - the beginning of Willow's downfall.
  4. Villains - I love seeing that bastard get tortured for killing Tara.
  5. Two To Go & Grave - Technically this aired as one episode. It's definitely in my top 5 because this was a huge character development for Willow. Seeing her go through the addiction with magic all season led up to a very sad finale IMO.

Honorable mentions: Afterlife, Flooded, Gone, Hell's Bells, and Normal Again.

Season 7
  1. Help - This episode is so realistic for many of us. We all want to help someone that needs it but then you have to realize you can't. Buffy's line at the end of what do you do when you know you can't help them is something I'm sure some of us have experienced with a friend or acquaintance.
  2. Conversations With Dead People - Joss originally wanted Amber back in this episode to be the ghost that talks to Willow. Thankfully she said no because she didn't want Tara to come to Willow to tell her to commit suicide. Amber was fine with Tara's memory being pleasant for fans and not one that leaves on a negative note.
  3. Him - Classic Buffy where all the girls, including Willow, are fighting over a teenage boy. Definitely one of their best comedy episodes.
  4. Dirty Girls - Faith returns and we see the hostility between her and Buffy again. This show should have tried to redeem Faith early on like they did with Willow and made her a regular cast member. I like Faith.
  5. Chosen - I don't think the finale disappointed me as much as it did some fans. Anya's death was unnecessary but as I mentioned before, it's obvious that was retaliation from Joss for Emma saying she was done with Buffy after season 7.
