After such a long run, The Edge of Night really got the poorest finale. I know they had a glimmer of hope for syndication, but you could tell everyone was looking for their next gig as the ratings had been falling for some time. The 2 things that killed that show were local stations wanting the late afternoon time slot and the gap for the Olympics on ABC that tried a cliffhanger during an already mediocre story. I expected them to really go all out for the episodes before and after the Olympics but that did not occur.
