On nearly every Supermarket Sweep episode I noticed that David Ruprecht always wore sweaters and I always thought they looked cool and it made him look stylish. Did David perfer sweaters to suits because he considered them to be the Supermarket Sweep uniform? Because I noticed also that in the later seasons he wears dress shirts and suits rather than sweaters
Did Supermarket Sweep have different wardrobe stylists to dress David Ruprecht in clothing of the times? Bestie |

Whatever the producers and stylists wanted to dress him in is what he was dressed in. Same goes for any and all hosts and actors for any program whether it be game show or sitcom, etc... Im sure once in a blue moon the host or actor gets to choose or put some input in but thats most likely an incredibly rare occurrence.

One of the promos for Supermarket Sweep is David Rubrecht's grandmother saying she made his sweaters for the show.

DTK SUPERMARKET SWEEP SWEATER COLLECTION After donning a suit and tie in the 1989 pilot, and before donning a collared shirt and tie for his 1993-1995 and 2000-2003 run on Supermarket Sweep, David Ruprecht was known in 1990-1993 for his eclectic collection of sweaters. His sweater collection became an iconic part of Supermarket Sweep history, and he was one of the last remaining game show hosts to wear decorated sweaters as part of his every day attire. In early 1990 his sweaters were provided by "Gitano Men". In late 1990-1992, the company was changed to just "Gitano". Early episodes in 1991-1992 list the sweaters as being provided by the company "Members Only", and in 1992-1993, the final season in which David wore sweaters, the sweaters were provided by "Michael Gerald, Ltd.". |

As for the sweaters I just thought the supermarket is cold and the show does all day tapings so to keep warm sweaters would be warm to wear. As for Grandma ad about David's sweaters, I wondered if it was Mary doing the voice over. I did think it might have been better to say my son David for David looks to be mid to late 30's and mom could be 60-70. To be grandma, David must be young.
