Clueless and the 90s

Did “Clueless” copy everything from the 90s or did it set new trends?

Was this show a time capsule of the 90s or did it basically make up things and pass them off as being from the 90s therefore setting new trends?

When it was announced that Paramount was gonna make Clueless it proved that we would see Alicia Silverstone become a top star and after the success of the film Reality Bites Paramount was ready for another teen oriented movie that would be just as great a hit as Reality Bites was and so when Clueless came out in theaters in 1995 it proved to be a smash hit. And so when it announced that ABC would develop a Clueless sitcom many people thought it would become a failure at first but after being cancelled and Clueless reruns aired on the UPN "Now The CW" the Clueless sitcom really took off like a rocket. And because of how popular the movie and sitcom had become Clueless was really an inspiration for the 90's and inspired new styles of fashion and beauty trends. Like you can blame Clueless for the popular 90's trend of animal backpacks that became popular in the 90's to plastic shiny jackets that most teens wore and in beauty trends hair mascara and lip glosses in bright colors such as gold purple green and silver and princess pink and due to Clueless's popularity this sparked a whole new image for the 90's. And Clueless was responsible for adding new lingo to teen language and if it wasn't for Clueless we would never have the lingo of such phrases such as "as if" betty "which is a term for a nice girl" baldwin "which is a term meaning a nice guy who's cute" into the teen language dictionary today Clueless had a lot to be thankful for. Though some people have compared Clueless to Valley Girl today the movie and sitcom still remain an impressive part of 90's culture
