Smile Who was your favorite third waitress?

My favorite third waitress was Flo. She was so outgoing and funny...and her character was more developed than Belle and Jolene were.

Flo was the best character on any show at the time. I really enjoyed the show better when it centered on Flo. Belle can Kiss My Grits. Did not like her at all. I did however like Jolene. She was a welcomed addition after Belle left.

I like Flo, like everyone did. I couldn't stand Belle--ticked me off that she beat Beth Howland out for the Golden Globe in 1984, I think it was. But I did like Jolene--mainly because she was not written as just another Flo rip-off. She was a totally new character, with some very fun idiosyncracies. (I loved how she'd stick her foot in her mouth, and just keep digging herself deeper as she tried to get out of it.)

Yep, Flo wins hands down. Jolene was OK and it was pretty funny when she glued herself to Mel trying to fix her nail and when she tryed to be a flight attendent. But nothing can compare to the original "Kiss mah grits!"

Flo all the way she was the best and i loved her saying Kiss My Grits. Belle was my 2nd best favorite third waitress. By the way Belle was originally Flo in the movie Alice.

My third favorite waittress was Vera. Poor Vera was always seem edgy and Mel often had a way of making people feel nervous. But my personality towards Mel would be the same as Flo's.

Kiss My Grits!

I liked Flo and Belle so much more than Vera. But I didn't care for Jolene, so I guess Vera was better than her.

The interactions between Flo and Mel were pure gold (and I loved the fact that Vic Tayback guested as Mel on the spinoff Flo). But I also loved whenever he'd bark "Bag it, Blondie!" to Jolene.

Flo.

I haven't seen the episodes with Belle and Jolene in decades, so I can't even remember who I prefer of those two.

I do remember thinking the addition of Jolene reminded me of the addition of Cindy on Three's Company. Not saying the characters were completely alike, but there was some similarity in that move in my mind.

I think Flo is gonna win this! BUT I did like Jolene too she made me laugh quite a bit. Belle didn't really stay long enough to warm up to her.

Your thoughts may have been helped by the fact that those cast changes happened within months of each other. Jolene joined Alice in March 1981, just three months after Cindy joined Three's Company that same season.
