Any departure of character between Young Sheldon and TBBT?

I am a causal watcher of The Big Bang Theory and haven’t seen the show in several years. I think it’s gone full circle. I however adore Young Sheldon.

I thought in my casual watching of TBBT that Sheldon was rather disdainful of his family except for his mother and he states that his father was not a good man, a drinker and whatnot. But on Young Sheldon, the father is a very nice, kind man who loves all of his children. Seems like a departure of canon, but the Young Sheldon show wouldn’t work otherwise. Besides didn’t George Senior die when Sheldon was 11? What happens if the show stays on for six seasons? The actor who plays the father is an important part of the show. I guess the show could turn into Sheldon goes to college in six years time if Ian (the correct way to spell this boy’s name) Armitage is popular and a heartthrob by then.

Second, the young Sheldon is a lot nicer, kinder person than the adult Sheldon. One thing from last night was when Meemaw (Annie Potts) tickled Sheldon make him crack up and laugh enjoyably. I think old Sheldon would really, really hate that.

More or less the Young Sheldon show to me is sweet and kind. The Young Sheldon show is like the now version of Leave it to Beaver, with Sheldon as a much smarter Beaver. But while Inlike he wholesomeness of the newer show, TBBT has always been snarky and the characters jerks and like I said. I am a causal watcher of the program, although there are some I enjoyed very much.

It is probably more difficult to have a show that has to have the same story, with the father dilemma above. Just ask Star Trek, each successive show had to follow the history (or canon) of the original show. The fans get mad if they deviate from that.

I saw it said at another forum that I go to that Mr. Cooper goes forward when Sheldon is 13.
