Oh man I can't believe this happened in Nebraska and I didn't hear anything about this I mean when you live in Nebraska you hear about everything. But I don't know what to think of this I mean you never know there could be other Pakistani people out there that are tied to the terrorists and the only way we can find that out is to confront them I mean not all Pakistani origin people are tied to the terrorists but you never know some of them
could be I mean there is talk about other things that Osama bin Ladens men want to do to us so we have to take ever precaution.

I support what they did. It isnt because he is Pakastani though. Anyone who is wondering around a courthouse suspiciously should be checked out.

Most definately! After the events of September 11 suspicious things are being magnified and I think it's good for precautionary measures to be taken.

If they arrested him cos he was wandering around a courthouse then that is perfectly reasonable.
If they arrested him because he was a Pakistani wandering around a courthouse I think the police's motivations should be called into question.

My thoughts exactly! Just because there are some bad pakistani people in the world like Bin Laden there is no reason to judge any pakistani person who just happens to go by a courthouse. I read in a teen magazine a couple months ago about a girl who was muslim and after the terrorist attacks some people at her school wouldn't talk to her at all and were even mean to her. I think it's terrible that just because a person looks a certain way or goes by a certain religion that they be judged by their appearance. The police should judge by an individuals' actions and not by what a person looks like.

I wouldn't answer your question based on the information that you provided. Who determined the man was "suspicious looking"? What does that mean? And what does "wandering around" mean as opposed to walking around? Were those your words or the words used in the report/article that you read? Did you find this question in a real life article? Did you take those words out of contex, or quote exactly what you read? Was it really a "small Nebraska town" or is that part of a made up scenario?

I am not making it up. I found the article at DrudgeReport.com.
I wasn't asking if YOU made it up. I was asking if you wrote the question as you read it and if the article itself was based on an event that had actually happened or if it was a hypothetical situation. So I still wouldn't answer the question based on the information provided. But I read the following excerpt from an article on the subject of profiling:

"Police departments across the country have found that profiling tactics alienate otherwise loyal minority communities whose cooperation is indespensable to investigations, and it also wastes limited resources. The FBI budget and manpower was used to hound Taiwnese-born Los Alamos scientist Wen Ho Lee for five years without finding evidence of spying."

Yeah exactly. I mean, they can't go arresting or checking out every Muslim or Middle Eastern person in the U.S...Hell, I'm mostly Irish and I could be tied to the terrorists! (I'm not though, thanks). But they did do the right thing by checking him out since he was suspiciously near a courthouse

My friends saw a middle eastern looking person walking around my town a couple weeks ago. It's strange though because there are no Muslim people or any kind of minorities here at all. Everybody pretty much looks alike here so I figure he stuck out like a sore thumb! I don't think he could be bad tho...Yeah, I'm sure my town in the big state of WV is # 1 on Bin Laden's list of places to hit!!! lol
