Default When The Cleavers Could Have used a Cell Phone

They could have called the ranger when they were trying to pull Eddie up off the ledge.

(From Scrabjan1 in another thread)

A cell phone would have been convenient in Borrowed Boat. Beaver could reach his parents on their cell. As you mentioned June could have called Marge on her cell to cancel and could have gone to school about the monster sweatshirt.

LOL, Beaver could have used a cell phone when he fell into the giant soup cup on top of the billboard.

He could have called his brother Wally on Wally's cell phone and said: "Hey Wally I need help I fell into a soup cup on a billboard!"

Wally's response might have been something like: "WTF??"

Or, Wally might have said, What else is new?

Beaver could have called Ward or June when Lumpy had a flat, and Beaver was stuck in his bunny suit.

Let's keep this going!

I think Wally might have said: "Boy Beaver what a goofy thing to do. Just my luck to have a dopey kid like you for a brother."

But I can just see the confused look on Wally's face as Beaver talks to him on the cell phone and tells him what happened. Wally's expression would be like: "WTF??"

Beaver could have called Wally when he backed the car into the street. He would have called Wally--he never would have called Ward with that one.

Wally would have to have his cell on his person and fully charged. That Gilbert was always leaving Beaver holding the bag when things got tight. He leaves him sitting in that car in the street, leaves him with a smashed kite, broken golf club and a man in the bathtub.

If Wally had a cell phone in Train Trip he could have called Ward and Ward could have wired the money to the conductor thru Venmo.

When Wally and Beaver were trying to find Mr. Jeff, they could have compared notes with their cell phones.

Yes, Gilbert is a real weasel, as you pointed out. Another one: when J&W confronted the boys in the bedroom after Beaver called the cops on Lumpy, Gilbert lied and Beaver 'fessed up.

Gilbert gets Beaver to call Don Drysdale on the Cleaver phone then doesn’t keep it quiet and it gets in the paper. Gilbert finally gets his just desserts. Most of the time he gets away with murder like in Class Picture when Beaver makes a face.

That class picture episode is Gilbert at his worst (and Beaver at his most gullible).

In the Don Drysdale episode, not only did Gilbert blab (and at the end asks Beaver whatever happened to us keeping it to ourselves), but he started the whole thing by making the what's a matta call to the store, in the first place.

If they had cell phones there wouldn't be toll charges for the LA call.

Yup Beaver lives in a whole different world back then. If Beaver had a computer back then he would only get into cyber trouble instead of driving a soapbox racer or smoking a pipe. It must be hard to keep your teenage daughter out of trouble when they talk to strangers online. So many predators out there.

Beaver with a computer--let's see, instead of a typewriter, he could have asked for a computer. Then Gilbert comes over and convinces Beaver to tease Angela Valentine on social media, about her extra toe. She retaliates, posting a picture of him in his bunny suit. Then the school intervenes, and Mrs. Rayburn emails Ward, asking him to come in for a meeting.

That would have been funny. Love teasing Angela Valentine on social media.

Beaver gets on the computer to locate a few old friends. He finds Larry has moved to Florida, lost weight and is now a beach bum surfing all the time. He owes it all to his consumption of apples. His father has permanently relocated to Cinncinati. Judy Hensler left Mayfield in the 6th grade and moved to Riverside and joined a convent where she plans to become a nun. Chopper Cooper is still living in Belport but has acquired 2 step brothers and one half sister since his father has divorced and remarried again. He tells him his family reunions are so big that there are 2 Mrs. In-Betweens. Chopper’s mother has married Uncle Dave and Chopper is in therapy. Mrs. Uncle Dave still gets the weepies.

Chopper got sick of his nickname and insisted everyone call him Dryden again.

Beaver further discovers Harry (whose family really didn't live in Mayfield too long) and his folks have moved down to a Caribbean island, where his family befriended Howard Sprague, who had also moved there. The friendship didn't last long, since Howard decided the beach bum life wasn't for him, and moved back to his home town. But Harry and his family did enjoy it--Harry in particular liked swimming, and he too dropped some weight. His father got into whittling at the general store, since so many men there are into that sort of thing. Harry found a friend in a native kid named Sebastian. Harry and his family took over Howard's hut, when he decided to leave.

Beaver is older now, and he has formed kind of an online friendship with Judy. They like to trade stories of their past dustups at good ol' Grant Avenue School. Sometimes when Beaver visits Aunt Martha, he and Judy get together at Riverside's ice cream parlor and share a black and white ice cream soda.

LOL!! Richard’s sister, Margaret Rickover, got arrested for stalking Wally at State. She went up there just to be near him so Wally filed charges. She’s currently out on bail and Wally got a restraining order. She is currently dating Chuck Bradford, an Alpha Kappa reject.

Jackie Waters and Beaver finally found something they both have in common. They get together every other weekend and play Barbies.
