I thought I had posted this already, but maybe I just had a dream sequence... who knows?
Anyway, I'm curious. Where do shows go once they leave the air and are NOT on high demand for syndication. For example, I remember the show "The Darlings," about the fairy tale family. Where is that now -- collecting dust in the vaults of the production company? Owned by some guy who bought them on ebay and shows them at his home when he pleases? The reason I am asking is because I wondered if come company like TVLand or N@N (although the majority of us are disgusted with them) could buy them relatively inexpensively, and do fandemonium weekends with them? I would love to see some of those "one-hit" wonders again. It's just a curiosity thing. I mean, I would think that the production companies might consider putting these shows on video and selling them through Columbia House or some other organization. So... any ideas?

Are you talking about "The Charmings", which was about Snow White, Prince Charming, and the family in the present-day? I actually think TV Land ran a few episodes several years ago.
It would be nice to see more one-hit wonders on cable -- you could probably fill a cable channel with them. But I wouldn't hold my breath for home video releases of many, though. I don't think there is a big enough market to make them profitable. Someday, when broadband is really widespread, I wouldn't be surprised to see more of these shows available to download (for a fee). |

Well, I didn't mean The Charmings specifically, but shows like that... on for a short time, enjoyed, but never quite at the top of the demand list.
Anyone else know?? |

I believe the production companies have the video libraries to their shows. Even if a show only lasted a couple of episodes, they're probably collecting dust in their video libraries wasting away.

Short-lived shows like Encore,Encore,Townies and Breaker high can be seen on some cable stations.
My digital cable service offers "On Demand" which is like Pay-Per-View but you can see ENTIRE episodes of "The Sinbad Show" and "All-American Girl".Only for $3.00 each! |
