I'm really hoping these episodes aren't the syndicated versions that are on the old DVD sets. I've heard the "Miss Bliss" episodes are syndicated versions with the introductions from Zack.

I’m disappointed with the set. I’m glad to have the Miss Bliss episodes on DVD finally, but I was thinking this was going to be some great box set, and it just isn’t. First of all, as mentioned, the Miss Bliss episodes have the Saved by the Bell theme song and title, like in syndication. Many of those episodes even have the TV-Y7 rating in the top left corner for a few seconds. Only three episodes have the Zack Morris introductions. They are…

2. “Love Letters”
8. “The Boy Who Cried Rat”
10. “Practical Jokes”

As for the actual Saved by the Bell episodes, from what I’ve gone through (which is only a few episodes) it seems to be the syndicated prints. Originally the show had a different version of the theme for the first season (same lyrics, different singer, different images for the actors, and a different order for them as well). Some of those openings are included in the Lionsgate sets. The episodes on THIS set that have that original theme are…

“The Friendship Business”
“The Election”
“Save That Tiger”
“The Prom”
“Driver’s Education”
“Blind Dates”
“Rent-A-Pop”
“Miss Bayside”
“Model Students”
“From Nurse to Worse”
“Screech’s Birthday”

I didn’t go through my Lionsgate releases but I’m assuming it’s the same episodes with the original theme songs. Still, I was hoping for all of them to have their original openings.

There’s one episode I know has a cut. It’s “The Aftermath” in season three. This had the same edit on the previous DVDs as well as in syndication. It’s when Zack is at the movie theater on a few different dates. They always skip over Slater’s choice, which was this really athletic girl. Her scene is still in one of the clip show episodes, so it’s not lost forever, but this still means the episode is edited. The opening of that same episode seems to have an edit, as it has a strange first couple seconds, like something was just cut.

The episodes are presented in broadcast order. Which means they’re all over the place, as NBC really screwed the order up. There’s even a season one episode in season four! “King of the Hill,” which is so clearly the first episode of Saved by the Bell is the second to last episode on the second disc. I was hoping they would have at least placed THAT episode first. The only episodes they changed the order for were the beach ones in season three. They put all six episodes back to back, where in broadcast order, they were separated (like in the previous release).

I haven’t checked The College Years yet, but I assume it’s alright, as Image released those episodes uncut before. So I assume those same prints were used. But I could be wrong. If so, I’ll just stick with the Image box set I already own.

The all-new documentary was fun to watch though. Much better than the one from the Lionsgate release (which, btw, is also included in this set).

I don’t regret this purchase, as I really wanted the Miss Bliss episodes as well as the two movies (I had them on DVD but lost it and just wasn’t willing to pay 60 + dollars on Amazon for a new one). But this isn’t even close to being how great I pictured it in my head.

I picked up the set, and some episodes are the original unedited versions while others are the syndicated prints. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to it as every season has some unedited episodes and some edited ones.

You can tell the difference between full episodes and edited episodes in a few ways.

1. The edited syndicated prints are always around 22:15 in length. Uncut episodes are at least 22:45 and up to nearly 23:30.

2. Edited season 1-2 episodes have opening credits that show footage from season 3 rather than clips from season 1-2.

3. Any episodes that have the different, lesser known version of the theme song are unedited.

I tried all the overseas sets and despite this show airing uncut on TV overseas regularly the overseas sets still use the same masters as the U.S. DVD releases, so annoying.
