What would it be like if you had the chance to win your very own dream house? In 1983 a game show named Dream House gave two teams of couples that chance. Dream House was hosted by Bob Eubanks and had the teams of couples try to answer trivia questions to earn points for cash and prizes of merchandise for their house and each day a different home was up for grabs in the hometown and state where the couples lived and the winning couple with the most points went on to a bonus round where they tried to compete for the Dream House and after the winning couple won every game after 7 days they won the house. It's a surprise that since Dream House was cancelled there hasn't been another game show that lets couples and families compete for a house. It would be cool if HGTV could revive Dream House and this time have teams of families try to win a dream house of their own and this time be sponsored by Century 21 or Remax and it would be a great hit

Not only do I remember the Bob Eubanks version of Dream House but I also remember the original version of the show that ran briefly in prime time in 1968 and in daytime from 1968 to 1970. The original version was hosted by Canadian disc jockey Mike Darrow, who was also the cousin of producer Don Reid. Two couples competed in a question and answer game with the winner receiving a room of furniture. In order to win the house, a couple had to win seven games on the daytime version, five on the nighttime.
I should also point out when ABC canceled the daytime Dream House in 1970, it would be replaced by a soap opera that would run for over 40 years All My Children. |

Hi, Bestie! WOW! Not only would I watch a show like that, I would want to play it! Who would not want their own dream house? I hope they do that show again.

The Bob Eubanks version lasted a whole 15 weeks.
