It was 12 years ago today I made my decision to drop Cable TV after seeing an ad for an "ED Pill" aired DURING A CHILDREN'S SHOW!

Guess what? Today I was attending a Bible Study with my Sunday School Group. When I arrived they had the TV set on. The show went to a commercial break and on came A CHRISTMAS AD!

It's not even October and they are airing Christmas Ads.

Isn't anything sacred?

I remember when you didn't hear anything about Christmas until Thanksgiving. I wish things would return to this, what do you think?

I think you're overreacting and should stay away from technology for awhile. Maybe go outside, read a book. Clear your mind.

Considering the actual birthday of Jesus is not December 25, I am fine with Christmas being celebrated any time of the year.

I've never had cable or satellite TV in my life and I don't regret it at all. OTA TV, DVDs, and Netflix are what I watch.

If it was just me, I'd also cut the cord with directv but TV is my dad's only entertainment so I wouldn't take that away from him. He watches a lot of hunting shows and westerns.

The only current shows I watch are "Days of our Lives" and "Wheel of Fortune" but I could probably find them online.

Exactly. Current TV sucks. I've barely watched any current shows the last 3 years and don't miss them one bit.

Honestly, I think people get unnecessarily smug when it comes to these vent threads. Like who cares if you don't watch TV and have a large DVD collection? It's like bragging about drinking water.

I guess I've ran this subject into the ground, my bad. I'm sorry I brought this subject up again. IMO commercial TV sucks, and I'm glad I pulled out when I did, as nothing has improved since I "cut the cord". One last thing, I still pay a provider for my internet access, and five will get you ten when I visit their center to pay my internet bill there will be people there turning in equipment. Cord cutting is for real!

My attitude regarding Pay TV wasn't always this bad. When cable TV arrived in my town in 1980 I was like a child on Christmas morning. Oh Boy! 28 new channels, ALL MINE! Fast-Forward to 2006, things had deteriorated to the point where I questioned WHY was I paying for all of this. Then an incident pushed me over the edge. Other means were available for procuring programming. I turned to them. I stand my decision to do this. I'm sure you all have your opinions as well. I respect all of you, lets move on.

Don't worry about it I think it's fine. For what it's worth I tend to agree with you (mostly) about the state of TV.
