For those who have seen it, what do you think about it? I think it's hillarius! Gracie is so funny! She reminds me of Chrissy Snow from "Three's Company" with her humor..I'll definatly be watching & taping this classic!

I consider B&A to be the best sitcom ever. My wife agrees.

I liked the characters in it alot. Harry and Blanche Morton were very funny. And of course Gracie. I also thought it was interesting how George would talk to the audience.

Even though I didnt see this episode, I read that when they changed the actor who played Harry Morton from Fred Clark to Larry Keating, George talked about it and joked to the audience. (Can you imagine them doing that on Bewitched with the Darrens??)

Also on the later episodes, George would go up to his den over the garage and turn on his television and watch what the other characters were doing like closed-circuit tv or something.

Burns & Allen has been my favorite classic sitcom for a long time. I was so excited to see it on TVLand. I have always thought that Gracie was hysterical. The Mortons (Blanche and all of the Harrys) were excellent-the verbal sparring between Bea Benaderet and Fred Clark was superb! George's comments to the audience added a sense of great fun and innovation to the show. Each episode still makes me laugh out loud numerous times. Each of the actors and actresses in the series were so talented!

I wish this show would get the same kind of attention and airplay as other classic shows like I Love Lucy and The Honeymooners get. The cast is very talented, the shows are very funny, and it was considered very innovative in its time with George breaking the "fourth wall" to talk to the audience.

i agree. they need a network dedicated to all the great classics tht defined television.

Yes...I've never seen that episode either, but I read that too...as a matter of fact, I also read that when Clark was replaced by Keating, Keating actually walked onto the set and took Clark's place in the scene, and that's how the transition was made...I don't know if that's true or not, but if so, it would be hysterical to watch today, when a replacement of a character during the run of a show is never acknowledged (I take that back...I think that on the "Fresh Prince of Bel-Aire", Will made a comment to his "new" Aunt Viv, by saying something to her like, "Gee Aunt Viv, you look different somehow". The audience roared!

I think the way these two shows handled character replacement was superb...it's too bad other shows (even sitcoms) take themselves too seriously to have a little fun with it.

We watch or tape Burns & Allen every Sunday...what an awesome show! As good as any I Love Lucy ever made, and "I" do LOVE Lucy!

Burns and Allen is the classics of all classics- The humor is still fresh in this day and age, the timing is amazing, This show can't compare with the junk that is on now- So why did TVLand stop airing it?- I wish the entire series was available on DVD- Then I would not need to rely on TVland when they decide to bring it back!

I couldn't agree more. TV Land tends to play favorites with their classic shows, and I think they should devote more attention to this old gem.
You are right on the money too about George's "breaking the 4th wall," a true innovation that took advantage of Burns' wonderfully dry wit.

Also, I might add George Burns and Gracie Allen were one of the first big stars to make a successful transition from radio to the new medium of TV...

In the episode where Larry Keating replaces Fred Clark, Blanche is holding a vase over her head to hit Harry in the head with it (because she hates the statue he bought for their front lawn). george steps in the picture and tells Blanche to freeze.

He states that FC is no longer playing the role due to his wanting to be in NY and introduces LK as the New Harry Morton (the 4th actor to play the role). He tells Bea to come over and introduces the two of them. He then tells them to get in place and then the new Harry walks through the door, where Blanche hits him with the vase.

Unfortunately, this is cut in syndication.

This show is awesome! Gracie cracks me up! She lead the way for future " dumb blondes" like Chrissy from Threes Company, and Kelly Bundy from Married with Children. I tape this show every Sunday and I hope it stays on TV LANDs schedule for a LONG time.

LucyLova has come up with a superlative phrase to describe the essence of Gracie. Gracie Allen certainly did "make stupidity look classy". Over and over again she did zany things, drew ridiculous conclusions, and made downright idiotic statements with total confidence and grace. And therein lies much of the show's charm.
