Why did Geri Weil (Judy) leave the show? - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

I liked Judy better than Penny. I know an example on The Andy Griffith Show that one of Opie's friends had to leave because he was older than the other kids in the cast and it was starting to show. Geri does look older than Beav and the other kids. Was she kicked off the show because of her age, or did she decide that she was tired of acting?

This is a little off topic about (Geri)Judy but it may have something to do with her leaving the show. I read somewhere that when she started developing into a young woman the producers wanted her to bind herself to hide her newly developing figure, however, Geri refused because she saw no reason to hide what was perfectly natural for a girl. I'm not sure where I read this at but it sounds like something that probably happened.

Thanks for your reply Uncle Billy. I kind of figured age had something to do with it. I always did like Judy better than Penny though.
