Default Did you guys see the new John Ritter special "Behind closed doors" a couple days ago?

It was on the Reelz channel over the weekend. It's a NEW special that's great but emotional of course. They're going to air it again on tomorrow 9/11, the 15th anniversary of John's death!! Can't believe it's been 15 years already!!

See below:

I can't believe NO ONE has responded to this in months! This is the best and most comprehensive documentary on John Ritter with TONS of great interviews & footage yet NO responses with all the John Ritter fans on here??!?

I really wanted to see it but I don't have regular tv, only have streaming stuff so I've never seen it. Hopefully it'll be available on YouTube eventually or somewhere like Netflix.

It's a shame he had to pass, but sounded like a nice guy.

The ONE question they NEVER ask or answer in ANY John Ritter documentary is "did John go to the doctor to get his heart checked while he was ALIVE"?

I'm pretty sure the answer is no otherwise he would've caught the problem and gotten the surgery like his brother did & still be alive!

I guess they don't raise the question because they don't want to John look bad but COME ON!

His wife, Amy Yasbeck, sued the doctors who worked on him in the ER when he had his aortic dissection, but the doctors were cleared of wrongdoing. Your question was answered at the trial. Apparently he had "been warned about health problems but failed to act decisively to correct them."

In the end it happened so quickly that by the time the doctors figured out it wasn't a heart attack it was too late to save him.

If the doctors were cleared then how did she get a $14 MILLION settlement or whatever??

The hospital and other medical professionals cited in the lawsuit (maybe paramedics or ER personnel?) settled out of court for a total of $14 million (settling is usual for medical malpractice cases because it's less expensive) so the hospital never made it to a jury trial. But the two doctors who did go to trial were cleared.

So they gave Amy MILLIONS because they thought it was a heart attack and not an aortic dissection?

What's strange is I bet more than half the hospitals in America would've done the same thing because heart attacks are common while aortic dissections are really rare in comparison!

I wonder if John Ritter's fame played a role because the hospital didn't want bad publicity if they did NOT settle?

I’m sure the hospital was definitely looking to avoid bad publicity. In a way it’s a shame Yasbeck sued because the doctors were just doing their best. A very litigious society we live in.

It's a travesty! This is 100% John's fault because he didn't have regular checkups with his doctor! John SHOULD have been seeing a cardiologist regularly after he hit 40 because heart disease ran in his family & his dad died from it! If he did he could've gotten CURED like his brother did.

I'm a huge Jack Tripper fan but you have to tell it like it is.
