In the second season, there are two episodes where Louie is dating Zena “the nice girl” Sherman. There were a few more episodes with her through out the series run. However, in the episodes she’s not in, it’s as if Louie is a single man. There’s no mention of her. Louie’s hitting on other women, which you can just explain away as the fact that he’s a slime ball. However, in the season three episode “Louie’s Mother,” he tells his mom that he’s lied about all the women he claims love him, referring to Elaine and another woman. But why didn’t he mention Zena? She dumped him at the start of the third season, but by the end of the same episode, she reluctantly took him back. The writers should have just had the break up be official. So in the end, it appears Louie is only dating Zena when the writers decided to put her in an episode.

Taxi wasn't excellent at continuity. Look at the Tony and Brian episode. At the end of the it, Tony fosters/adopts Brain and then we never hear about the kid again. The Shloogal matches weren't super consistent either. In Arnie Meets The Kids it's stated Elaine and him have been seeing each other for months, yet in that time, she fell completely head over heels in love with Zifka with no mention of Arnie whatsoever. Perhaps that's a weak example given her relationship with Zifka could only last a week, but it still seems strange to me, especially seeing as Alex lectured her about how irresponsible he deemed her actions. It would have made sense for him to remind her she was seeing Arnie, even if it was more casual at that point. (In any case, I found the season five relationships very forced. I enjoy the character growth in Louie and the Blind Girl, but admittedly I like the Zena/Louie dynamic better.)
