Default Why is Disney making live action versions of their classic films?

I have been noticing that Disney has been making live action versions of their animated films and I would like to know why this is? Is it because this is a new road for Disney to try to attract their new audience or is it the start of a new generation of Disney movies? Ever since the live action version of Alice In Wonderland with Johnny Depp came out and Maleficent followed it seems that these live action versions of animated Disney films are a hit with fans. Then starting with the live action version of Cinderella with Lily James and The Jungle Book it proved that Disney was on a roll and soon with the live action version of Beauty And The Beast a huge hit when it debuted last year it was indeed a huge success. And now with the upcoming releases of Mulan and Dumbo and Genies which is a live action version of Aladdin coming soon could this be the start of introducing classic Disney films to new fans?

Disney has been remaking their own movies since the 80's, the new live action remakes are just continuing the trend.

To make money.

Same reason TV networks remake the same shows. Most writers today have no talent and can't come up with anything new. Plus they think they have a built-in audience so they consider it less risky.

That's why movies today just suck!

I'd rather take the chance in making original films rather than remaking everything!
