Ever notice whenever they show the streets, esp. in front of the house, that they and the sidewalks are always wet? It's just like in a film noir movie where the streets are always wet.

It's interesting you brought that up. I've noticed this for years, but never posted anywhere about it. They probably took one establishing shot when it was wet, and used it over and over.
The thing I have posted about many times is the disappearing lamp post. It bugs me that that lamp post next to the driveway does only part time duty. In most daytime shots, it's not there. But in night time shots, it's always there. The lamp post that's there when needed--at night. It is visible a few times during the day. It's there a few times when Beaver starts riding the school bus. It's there when Wally says bye-bye to the rest of the Cleavers when he decides not to go on vacation with them. And it's there in a brief transition during the day, but those are the only three episodes. |

It'd be nice if all lamp posts did that, disappear during the day and pop back at night.
Also, a funny thing, in that last season of Beaver (which I'm currently nearing the end of) you notice in the opening when everyone hops in the car and the father starts driving backwards out of the driveway and goofball Beaver is staring out the back window like a puppy dog the father suddenly hits the brakes making everyone jolt forward toward the back window. I have thought this must have been because he was about to hit the camera man filming at the end of the driveway! Funny, but I bet that's the real reason for the sudden stop.

Never thought of that--bet you're right! June's up there, out of the shot, saying, "Ward, watch out, you'll hit the cameraman!"
Re the lamp post--Mayfield, where at night they roll up the sidewalks and roll out the street lights. |
