Default People From Bryant Park Who Visited the Douglases in Calif., Who We Never Heard Of

There were a lot of them--

Jim Bell (Sal Mineo), the guy who rode his motorcycle and didn't do anything else.

John Simpson (Micky Dolenz), Chip's friend.

Sylvia Cannon (Jane Wyman), who raises the female Douglas's ire.

I'm sure there are more but I just can't think of 'em.

(Of course, there were some we did know, like Ray Wong.)

Rolleyes Maybe they were Shy

All those unseen Bryant Park folk must have visited the Douglas' during the off summer months, or maybe they were all Christmas guests. Really a shame ain't it there was never even one Christmas episode.

There was the woman who visited claiming to know Steve from his younger years, but he couldn't place her at all (color episode). I'll look it up when I have time. I think that one may qualify, although they were likely in another town back east. It's the one with the song "Paddlin' Madeline Home..." !!

I think that was the woman who kept calling him Stevie.

Season 7 ep. 3, Forget Me Not.

Another one: there was a family that visited them toward the end of season 9, with a kid named Shorty. Steve helped one of the other kids save their marriage.

I recall it was Ernie who found their supposed old friend Shorty -- he mentioned he noticed someone dribbling a basketball like Shorty used to, and it turned out to be him.

Another episode worth a mention is the Season 10 one with Robbie going back to Bryant Park, although that's not one where old friends are visiting CA. He's set to be best man for the wedding of Phil Rankin (Yale Summers) -- supposedly an old pal, whom we hadn't heard of? Did we ever see Olan Soule as the hotel manager before, also supposed to remember Rob?

Rob & Katie also find that another old friend now owns the old Douglas house in Bryant Park, at the end.

Yeah, we never saw any of those people. I don't think we ever saw that bandstand or whatever it was in the park. We never saw Mr. Minderman (Olan Soule)(he kept calling Rob by his real name), who offered all the delicious meals, like Swedish meat balls, steamed cabbage, and the like. We also never saw the nasty man played by Burt Mustin.

I think it would have been interesting if someone had knocked on the door in LA, and said, "Hi, I'm Sudsy...remember me?" (The kid who played him was in a later episode, which was pointed out in another thread by Hazel Anyday.)

Talking Sudsy & Burt, long time no see

Yeah, and when Sudsy did pop back in his elderly years he looked really different from when he was a kid.

Also Burt Mustin did appear in a b/w epis. when he played one of Bub's lodge buddies (different from the old grouch character he played later) he came over to the house along with a gaggle of Bub's other cronies. "Cronies" a name my grandmother used to call my grandfather's friends.
