Talking Buttons and Beaux

I've been watching my DVDs of My 3 Sons (forever) once a week and the Me TV season 12's caught up with my current season 12 shows. For the first time I've compared a show I just saw from Odyssey with one shown on ME TV. Buttons and Beaux was the episode where I first had this chance. The good news is that the ME TV version actually had an additional scene in it that the Odyssey version did not. And from what I saw the Odyssey version did not have anything extra in it that the Me TV version didn't also show. THe additional scene from ME TV takes place when Barbara & Ernie are talking about Ernie taking Katie out, the Odyssey version simply cuts off 3/4s of the conversation and then cuts off when Dodie first talks about giving Katie a surprise gift herself. Odyssey shows Dodie's later mention of giving a gift but not when she first brings it up right after the Ernie/Babs conversation.

Now, I don't know about the rest of the season 12 episode comparisons, but this one ME TV comes out ahead.

That scene on Odyssey was :15 and was 1:05 on MeTV.

The season 12 episodes are hit-or-miss. Some have extra scenes on MeTV, some don't.

Episode 22, Lonesome Katie (one which I think you justly panned on another thread) has 4 extra scenes on MeTV. On the other hand Odyssey had one scene (with Katie out dancing) that MeTV cut out.

Even with added scenes the episode is super choppy. Katie goes to play bridge at a friend's apt. (which is explained by a Steve and Barbara conversation that MeTV restored), and she has a blue blouse on. Suddenly, she's out dancing, with another outfit on, and a different hairdo. Next thing you know (after another added MeTV scene with Dodie and Charley in the kitchen), she's sitting in the living room reading a magazine (this girl gets around!).

These episodes are super-badly edited, no matter which network shows them. I'm with the other posters--I'd like to see the Nickelodeon versions--they'd probably be the closest to complete episodes. But no one seems to have rolled the VCR on those.

Wink Not Lonesome Yet

I haven't seen any ME TV version of My 3 Sons' season 11 and 12 till the other day when I watched Buttons... I haven't seen Me's version of Lonesome Katie, in fact I haven't seen it from my Odyssey DVDs of my own current weekly viewing round. When I spoke about Lonesome Katie before it was from memory of seeing it before a few years ago.

But any scene with Katie be-boppin' dancing is 10 times better than a version that cuts it out. Sounds like I need to watch the ME TV version in a couple more weeks when it comes up in my weekly episode guide following line-up.

This past Monday was Buttons & Beaux in my weekly Monday viewing world, this coming Monday it's "Bad Day For Steve" so for a long time I was ahead of Me TV in their latest round of showings, but now Me TV has not only caught up with my once a week viewing schedule but by the time I get to Lonesome Katie, it'll be far past me. I'm glad to say by the way, it means My 3 Sons is back on the air again, & the more people see it who've never even heard of it before, the better we all are!

Bad Day For Steve is a really funny episode. The scene after MeTV's second break is 23 seconds longer than the Odyssey version--other than that, the other scenes are about the same on each version.
