Default Relationship in crisis

I married someone who turned out to have schizoaffective disorder. To understand the disease, I watched some movies regarding mental illness.
(A Beautiful Mind, Silver Linings, Donnie Darko, Rain Man).

I feel a bit fearful and anxious about how our future together will be and how about if we have kids. I would appreciate help/enlightenment from anyone who is in the same shoes as mine.

I think you have to do a little more than that, like perhaps speak w/ professionals about it.

One doesn't learn how to drive by watching the Fast & Furious movies.

Hi Sherrie,

I'm not in the same boat as you, but I was in a similar one. My step-brother was diagnosed with schizophrenia in 2005. He also lived with me during that time. He heard voices in his head, and believed a lot of strange things. Mostly, he would ask me why I was saying things I hadn't said, or would ask if I had just said something.

He's been on medication since late 2005, and has done very well. He got a job as a short-order cook. He settled down and had a family. He just has to stay on the medication to maintain a good life.

Don't argue with them, let them let off steam if they need to. If they're on medication try and get them to have injections from the doctor as they can forget to take oral medication. Don't expect too much of them work-wise and don't put too much pressure on them at home.

Thanks for the advice.

I already looked online and came across this one counseling site, and I talked to one of their therapists who had given me some sound advice.

You should go to a real doctor and forget about websites, including this one.

It's his partner, not he himself.

Yes, I can read just fine. As I said, a medical doctor, not a TV website.

Oh No

I have the opposite...

I'm autistic and can't find anyone to love...I feel like I'll have a loveless life! I want my surname to be passed-on to another generation, but that'll happen when The Browns are in the Super Bowl!

Well your sketch for a new dark comedy was well thought out and you should pursue it. As for a relationship, you're better off alone than being with someone who nags you constantly.

I've heard from someone yesterday who helped with home loans, more people would rather be with their computer than with their spouses!

There are many people whom I view around the city, at work, in all kinds of situations whom I think to myself are not really together. But don't give up looking. The Church might be a good place; at least there the ground rules are set.
