Decades has been showing the Lucy-Desi hours after cycling through all the half hour episodes. These are definitely a mixed bag. They suffer from a tired premise and inflated length.
I’ve always heard people say that the “Lucy Makes Room For Danny” episode, featuring a crossover with “The Danny Thomas Show” is the best one. But I disagree. Maybe it’s because I never found Danny and his shouting all that funny. I think the “The Celebrity Next Door”, with Tallulah Bankhead, is the best one. I also have a soft spot for the one where Lucy becomes Paul Douglas’ morning show co-host. |

My favorite is the uranium hunting one. I always thought it had a "Mad Mad Mad Mad World" vibe to it.
Most of the hour episodes were pretty bland though. Having a celebrity every episode seemed forced. Not to mention focusing on a celebrity was never (well rarely) the source of humor in the first six seasons. In other words they ran out of ideas and lost the magical formula that had worked so well before. |
