Were The Beach Boys planning to make a comeback with the song Kokomo?

When The Beach Boys released their song Kokomo in 1988 for the soundtrack of the Tom Cruise movie Cocktail I often wondered if The Beach Boys were planning to release a comeback album with actor John Stamos as part of The Beach Boys. Because the only thing I knew that The Beach Boys did in the 80's was record a song called Living Doll that was a song that Mattel Toys put on a record single and included the record of Living Doll with the 1988 California Dream /California Barbie Doll
Was there gonna be a comeback album from The Beach Boys that was gonna include the song Kokomo as a single?
