Default I Miss Old NICK at NITE

As NICKELODEON signed off for the day. The First ever Classic TV Network launched on NICKELODEON calling itself NICK at NITE. It was the place to go to watch older shows from the 1950’s, 1960’s, 1970’s,that aired in primetime and late/overNites.So no matter how busy you got during the day NICK at NITE was there EveryNITE to air those Classics.

They had very clever promos and jingles. They gave Classic TV the hightest respect. Plus those Classic TV Rewinds, Summer Block Parties, Launch Marathons, Holiday Themed Marathons,New Years Classic TV Countdown the Nite after Christmas leading into New Years Day.

If I remember right NICK at NITE went 24 hours on NICKELODEON on New Year’s Day jokingly because people stayed in there pajamas all New Years Day,So they ran NICK at NITE New Years Eve-January 2nd.

No matter if you were a kid that watched NICKELODEON during the day.Or you were a adult looking for something to watch at NITE it was a Win/Win Situation for NICK at NITE for everybody!

I'm old enough to remember Nickelodeon before Nick at Nite. Before Nick at Nite, Nickelodeon shared its channel with A&E (Even before that, Nickelodeon was called Pinwheel). When A&E became a separate channel, Nick at Nite launched... this was in July 1985.

As you say, Nick at Night had some incredibly funny and fun bumpers over the years. Among my favorites were:

1) The one where the announcer said something to the effect of, "Mary Tyler Moore... she can turn the world on with her smile. She can take a nothing day, and somehow make it feel... worthwhile."

2) During Halloween, they'd run a Facts of Life marathon with a spooky (and hilarious!) bumper indicating that Mrs. Garrett had something to do with the sudden disappearance of Molly Ringwald. This might have been part of their "Blair Warner Project"; I don't recall now.

I DO remember these creative commercials!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_R78N_K0FyA

Now...they want money...NOT creativity! Trust me...I'm working somewhere where corporation dominates and there's no room for creativity!

I can't wait for the 2020's...maybe there'll be creativity uprising!

This was the period when they had TALENTED people who could be creative, and do fun, interesting things. All those people and all creativity are gone.

I still have a 2005 VHS tape of their 20th anniversary. Just think...they were really good, a mere 13 years ago. I wonder exactly when their channel went down the tubes.

Some other memories I enjoyed..

-When the man or Woman came running in to turn on NICK at NITE and something crazy happened.

-The Adventures Of The Milkman and The NICK at NITE Pixie.

-The Lost Brady from The Brady Bunch.

Nick at Nite was much better back then because at its own prime, peak & very best from 1985 to 2000 when their schedule were mostly filled with Classic Shows.

I think Reality TV had something to do with that. I think I've noticed that since then, creativity has gone out the window. Just look at there schedule now.

I think we all miss the old days of Nick @ Nite. Hell I miss Nick @ Nite from just 9 years ago compared to now.
