Love this scene.
June- “Have you read this book lately? He smokes, curses, lies, plays hooky and he even ran away from home.” Given a little time Beaver pretty much did all those things he smoked the pipe he was always lying, he played hooky he cursed and he ran away from home. |

Yeah he was quite the liar. Wasn't she talking about Tom Sawyer? And the boys read the book, right? Well, there you go...Beaver took it to heart.
In later seasons weren't there statements from June (like in the changing the report card episode)--I just can't believe Beaver would do this. Seems more to me like he'd do anything, if he thought he could lie his way out of it, or keep Ward from finding out. |
