Home Improvement: Where Are They Now?

Here is how I would picture the cast if either Season 9 was made or if something else was to be done.

Brad - Still a basketball player along with soccer who has won many trophies along with several other awards, he is also a saxophone player in numerous bands including one with other members from his old school band. When not doing basketball, soccer, or music, he is a producer along with some acting.

Randy - A director who has done episodes of TV shows and documentaries

Mark - A filmmaker along with being a music video director, no longer an actor

If Wilson was still alive, he would still be Tim’s neighbor and would be in Brad’s band playing harmonica along with the accordion.

Jill - A director who does only TV shows and may consider directing movies in the future

Tim - Retired, passed over Tool Time duties to Al

Al - Now takes over Tool Time from Tim

A little story in honor of summer almost coming:

It’s almost summer and the Taylor boys (now adult men) decide to surprise their parents by coming home a few days early.

Randy: Home sweet home. We are at our childhood home here at last Mark.

Mark: Where’s Brad?

Randy: He’s busy with his band, but he knows we are at home.

Mark: I hope he comes so we can surprise our parents.

Randy: Too bad about Wilson. If he was still alive, he would’ve been really happy to see us come home for the summertime.

Mark: Yeah. I miss him too Randy. Has it really been fifteen years already?

Randy: In December of this year it will be.

Part 2!

*Brad finally arrives home*

Brad: Hello? Anyone there?

Mark: Up here! We’re unpacking.

Randy: Brad! What took you so long to come home?

Brad: Ugh. You don’t want to know what happened. Nothing but mess ups, issues with instruments, lots of other things happened as well.

Mark: And you look tired too.

Brad: I am tired. I should unpack, but resting is calling my name.

Randy: Go right ahead. Want me to unpack for you instead?

Brad: No. I’ll do it myself later.

*Brad is resting, while Mark and Randy are downstairs watching sports*

Not long after the game is over...

Mark: I think I just heard a knock.

Randy: Go see who it is.

Mark opens the door and discovers that it’s Jill, his own mother.

Jill: Mark?! Is that you?

Mark: Hi mom! Yes it is me.

Jill: You’re home early! I’m so happy to see you too and I missed you so much!

Randy later appears and finds his mom wanting a big hug from him

Jill hugs Randy and gives him a big squeeze.

Jill: Randy! You’ve grown!

Randy: Yes I did. Where’s dad by the way?

Jill: Unpacking the car still. There’s a lot of stuff we have to unload.

Mark: Brad had a really long band rehearsal, so he’s resting.

Jill: Oh that’s fine. I’ll see him when he wakes up then.

*Tim comes inside

Tim: What are you doing home so early before the summer Mark?

Mark: Well, we all wanted to come back to our childhood home and surprise you!

Tim: It’s wonderful, but I wasn’t expecting this so soon!

Randy: I missed the both of you. Can I have a hug again?

Both: Of course you can son!

Brad comes downstairs again not looking tired anymore.

Brad: Mom?! Dad?! What are you doing home?

Jill: Oh son! I bet you were working so hard with your band, that you completely forgot about the both of us.

Brad: I was just tired to be honest. Band rehearsals didn’t go so well, so resting up was what I needed.

Jill: I’m really glad to see you Brad. Welcome home.

Tim: And am I glad to see you too.

Jill: I’m really glad to see all three of you. You have grown up to be nice young men and you all have changed so much.

Mark: I think I’m going to cry.

Randy and Brad: Us too.

Tim: Go right ahead.

Jill: I think I need to right now.

Brad: I’m going to unpack, but why don’t we have a nice dinner together afterwards?

Tim: Go ahead.

Jill: We are now officially all home again.

Tim: Welcome home sons. Welcome home.

The end.

Alternate beginning

Mark is seen finishing up his latest film when he gets a phone call.

Mark's boss: You're done for today. See you tomorrow.

Mark: Thanks boss.

Mark's boss nods in approval

Mark finally answers his phone and discovers that it's his own brother Randy.

Randy: Why didn't you pick up the phone right away?

Mark: Sorry about that. I was finishing up a film and there were only a few things that needed to be done.

Randy: Couldn’t you have waited until the next day to do it?

Mark: No. It had to be done because it was going to be due in a few days.

Randy. Oh. That makes sense. Anyway, Brad got hurt really badly while playing basketball.

Mark opens his mouth in horror.

Mark. You're kidding?!

Randy: I'm not. We're going to the hospital right now.

Mark: Isn’t he supposed to be at band practice?

Randy: Yes, but that’s after.

Mark: I'll meet you at the hospital.

Mark drives to the hospital and the receptionist immediately recognizes him.

Receptionist: Your brother is in the emergency room and that will be on your left.

[MA]

Part 2!

At the hospital...

Mark is seen sitting next to his brother.

Mark: Is he being moved to ICU soon?

Nurse: Yes, when it slows down. But for now, he's staying right here.

Mark: Brad, how are you feeling?

Doctor: He's really tired, so I wouldn’t bother him if I were you.

Randy: So he's sleeping then?

Doctor: Yes.

Mark: I came here to see my brother for nothing.

Nurse: Don’t feel bad. I'm sure he’s thinking that he’s very glad to see you in his sleep.

[MA]

Lisa - Now co-host of Tool Time along with Al when not busy being a lifeguard

Heidi - Announcer for the show, but sometimes does fill ins for either Al or Lisa if either or are out

Even though Tim is now retired, he is the fill in announcer and also the Tool Time boy

Part 3

Brad is seen awake and talking to his brother Randy, when Mark comes in to remind him that it's time for band practice.

Mark: Did you forget Brad?

Brad: Oh no! I'm going to be late and my band won't be happy with me.

Mark: I'll drive you. Stay here Randy.

Mark wheels Brad out of the emergency room and into the hospital elevator

Brad: Where's your car?

Mark: It's in the shop being fixed, so I'm just using the wheelchair van that the hospital is allowing me to use.

Brad: How did you get here then?

Mark: I borrowed Randy's car and Randy got a ride from mom in her truck.

Brad: The wheelchair bus looks easier in my opinion.

Mark: That's what you'll be taking when your practice is over.

Brad: Aren't you going to take me back to the hospital?

Mark: I can't. Dad's picking you up instead while I get my car back from the shop.

Brad: This stinks. The pain is still bugging me too.

Mark: Once you get back, you'll rest and get iced, okay?

Brad: Oh, alright then.

[MA]

Part 4

In the wheelchair van...

Mark: Mind if I make a phone call to my boss Brad?

Brad: No, go right ahead.

Mark: Listen, I need to take a break from making films and directing. One of my older brothers got really hurt while playing sports and just can't come in at the moment.

Mark's boss: That's fine with me. We'll actually be closed for a little bit anyway while the building gets renovated and most likely won't be back until the fall when it's all done.

Mark: Great!

Mark's boss: See you in the fall then, and hope your older brother gets better.

Mark: Thank you again boss.

The call then ends.

If this show were to be made around 1999-2000...

.Brad would be away at college

.Randy would be away in Costa Rica

I can see the both of them making a guest appearance just like Jonathan Taylor Thomas did.

How the characters would turn out to be in the other person's story.

Brad Taylor - He is now a high-school soccer coach. He is married to Samantha Hayes. They have three daughters; Lisa, Jessie, and Megan.

Randy Taylor - He is now a reporter. He is married to Lauren and they have two sons.

Mark Taylor - He is now a filmmaker. He is single.
