Madderest I'm on the verge of quitting my job!

My boss said that I must be busy, I can't even take one second off!

It's because my pastor went on a tirade about it last Sunday! So now I either have to do something...or...**** it...I'm about to tell them all "goodbye"!

And though I don't have another job...I refuse to have one as we speak...I'll have the government handle me for awhile!

What happened? Did your boss really say you must be busy every second? That's not even healthy.

I recently quit my job of the last 15 years. The workload had become unbearable and unhealthy, and the situation never got resolved. After many months of me waiting for them to hire some additional staff, which they never did, I finally resigned. I can definitely understand why you'd want to leave your job.

It's my "pastor" who needs to see me doing something every minute...I'm practically doing everything there. My own church has gone corporate and if they close the main hall...I will...I repeat...WILL resign.

And my old man is a broken record telling me "you'll lose your job", "find another job", or "move back home"! I don't need this ****...I love my dad, but it seems that he HAS to win! And if they lay me off...he'll say "I Told You So"! I don't ****ing need that!

And the reason why I call my pastor "pastor" is because he can't preach out of a paper bag! Let's say someone from Trinity Broadcasting Network wanted him to do a sermon on Billy Graham's posthumous 100th Birthday...viewers would say "this is a pastor"?

Both him and another woman there are bossing me around, I call them king a queen because they're making the calls! I'm just their pawn who might as well have "kick me" tattooed on my neck!

Then there's people telling me "don't quit"...sometimes quitting is the only solution!

Really sorry to hear all this. I guess you work in some sort of ministry? One would think that church people would show more mercy.

Best of luck finding a new job, Cleveland!

Oh No I've made-up my mind...

After the VBS and Children's Summer event at my church...I'm gonna quit!

My "pastor" wants to build a new building and make the sanctuary more than just a place to have church! Did my "pastor" see a 900 foot Oral Roberts and give him a vision?

I was at a fund-raiser for someone who may be dying...and the "pastor" didn't show up! None of the higher echelon was there! Are they dipsophobic (disrespectful of people who drink alcohol)?

The puritanical work ethic is a horrible thing. Protestant churches are probably going to be worst believers in this philosophy. The fact that they're probably independent from a lot of government regulations on account of separation of church and state is another problem. Find another place to work besides a church. If you need to quit to focus more time on finding a job, to me that's understandable. Make sure you have enough money to support yourself first, though. I get the impression your family is probably tired of your behavior, so you'll need to find a way to get by without their help.

That's not even the worst part...the previous pastor brought more people in and though he had some evangelical concept in his theory...he also kept the Lutheran Catechism intact as well as the two sacraments, baptism and communion.

The "pastor" we have now practically said this in a sermon "**** Martin Luther" (he didn't say that, but that's how I felt that's what he said). And many of the members that are still there are about to leave and find a better Lutheran Church!

My Church isn't even Lutheran anymore...during the 500th anniversary of the Reformation, I was the only one who went to the 500th Anniversary event!

Best thing I did was quitting my job about 9 years ago. My bosses at the time were trying to pull some BS with me, I wasn't going to take it so I just quit. Since then, I'm grateful that circumstances have afforded me to stay home and not have to work. Life is good being able to relax at home and not having to deal with job related stress and BS.

Back about ten years ago I had a nightmare job, and I worked there for three years. For the first year or so it was fine and while it was boring, they left me alone and my boss was cool. About a year and a half later my boss was in and out of rehab and my nightmare began. First, around this time several of my coworkers retired and they brought in new people. The new guys were cool but while doing the database for HR (because none of them knew how to do databases) I discovered something horrible: I was paid less than these new male coworkers who were just out of school (in one case, out of high school). I knew I was underpaid at my job for what I did and seeing my coworkers make more made me ask why. Long story short, they were angry I questioned and I found out from several female coworkers that this has been going on for years. Because my boss wasn't around much to protect me, I was severely bullied, for example someone claimed I wore miniskirts and high heels to work. This was December in Chicago, only crazy people would dress like this. I didn't even own a pair of high heels since I have bad ankles. They then started on my coworkers, claiming I filed reports against them for various things. A lie, but my coworkers believed it and started bullying me. Eventually they realized I was the victim and apologized. The head of HR was the mistress of a local politician/"minister" and she decided to file several reports against me that were fake, including hitting someone on a day I wasn't even there! The skank got me fired (they kept trying to get me fired or for me to quit but I'm tough) a week before Christmas.

At the time I felt like a loser, but my health improved greatly. I had money saved up for a condo but had to use the money and when that was gone I had to move home. I was broke for several years and unable to find a decent job (I suspect this employer did something to me), but I started getting involved with things I didn't have the chance to do previously. I then went back to school to switch fields and though it was challenging things are falling in place now. Sure, I probably won't make as much as I did before but I think I'll be happier with less stress.

Don't feel like a loser and if you have to move back home, nothing wrong with it. Use that time to figure out your next move and perhaps go to school or work somewhere else. I know things will work out for you.

I'm gonna stay there at my job until Labor Day Weekend...

Today just plain sucked tho...we had a meeting after church, but my "pastor" nor his family wasn't there and I was planning on going to a Strawberry Fest, but we had to cancel our plans because it rained and no one wanted to go...I gotta get a car.

After Labor Day, what kind of work will you be doing? Any ideas?

If the job is affecting your health you should quit, albeit temporarily if you must.

I'm hoping to work with my brother on a late-night style TV Show called The Craptastic Movie Show and put it on YouTube. It's a combination of SNL and MST3K since we have sketches and talk-over a bad movie.
