Hello everyone,
I am SO Happy that Laff will be adding "Home Improvement" tomorrow night to its regular lineup, airing Every Night at 9. That being said, since leaving Hallmark Channel, I've only seen this show on my retail DVDs of the show, as well as my VHS Tape of the 2-Hour Series Finale that Disney released. In honor of this impending occasion, I'd like to share with you folks a Complete Showography of this hit '90s Disney sitcom. The year is 1990. George H.W. Bush, age 66, is U.S. President; the War of the Gulf is in full effect; and Timothy Allen "Tim" Dick, known professionally as Tim Allen, is THE hottest stand-up comedy ticket in Hollywood. During the Summer of 1990, veteran TV producers Matt Williams, David McFadzean & Carmen Finestra conceived a sitcom pilot for The Walt Disney Company called "Hammer Time," a spoof on Bob Vila's "This Old House." Shortly after purchasing the Concept, Disney CEO Mike Eisner suggested that the trio re-tool the show as a Vehicle for Tim Allen, shortly re-naming the show "Home Improvement." Born in Denver, Colorado on June 13, 1953 (conicidentally 65 years ago next week), Timothy Allen Dick was the 3rd of 6 boys born to Gerald Dick, a Realtor who would tragically be killed in a Car Accident by a Drunk Driver when Tim was 11 years old in 1964, and Martha Fox (info courtesy of 2005's "E! True Hollywood Story" episode on Tim Allen's Life and Career). Shortly after Gerald's death, Martha would marry an old flame, himself a recent Widower with 3 young daughters whose own wife lost HER life in a Car Accident some time earlier; the Blended family settled in Tim's adopted hometown of Detroit, Michigan, where he would graduate from Seaholm High School in 1971, at age 17; after graduating from the University of Michigan in 1976, Tim began a Drug Addiction that would Culminate in his October 1978 Arrest for attempting to Sell Cocaine; he subsequently pled Guilty to Criminal Charges in Connection with the Cocaine Selling, and while awaiting Sentencing began straightening his life out, working at a local Sporting Goods Store; 9 months later, in November 1979, a local Judge sentenced Tim to a Maximum of 8 Years in Prison, to be served at Sandstone Federal Prison in Minnesota. Per his "E! True Hollywood Story" episode, Tim was a Model Prisoner, and was released in March 1982 after 2 1/2 years in Prison; he continued straightening his life out by beginning a brief career as a local Male Model in Detroit for ads such as AT&T, eventually working full-time at a local Detroit ad agency while pursuing stand-up Comedy on the side. Tim married College Sweetheart Laura Deibel in early 1984, and in December 1984, just before Christmas that year, they became first time parents to their only child, a daughter they named Kady (born Katherine Deibel Dick). By 1990, Tim was a fully-fledged success in the Stand-Up Comedy Field, so much so that he was offered his own sitcom by The Walt Disney Company in "Home Improvement," the Pilot Episode of which was Videotaped on April 19, 1991 at The Walt Disney Studios in Burbank, California, and was immediately picked up for that Fall by the ABC Television Network. However, prior to its scheduled debut, a major tabloid was threatening to reveal info on Tim's Past Prison Stint; rather than allow the tabloid to beat them to the punch, Tim and Disney jointly decided that Tim would reveal the info HIMSELF. On September 17, 1991 at 8 P.M. ET, "Home Improvement" debuted on ABC and became the #1 Rated Series that week, eventually tying with "Cheers" at #4 in the Nielsens at year's end; at the start of Season 2, ABC pitted the series against the then-struggling NBC sitcom "Seinfeld," Wednesday nights at 9 P.M. ET. As a result of "Home" beating it in the ratings, "Seinfeld" moved to Thursday nights at 9 P.M. ET on NBC just to be given a chance--a move making "Seinfeld" a forever classic. "Home Improvement" eventually switched timeslots with "Roseanne," airing Tuesday nights at 9 P.M. starting in 1994. In August 1995, The Walt Disney Company bought the ABC Television Network as well as corporate sibling ABC Productions (later folded into ABC Studios in 2007). On September 11, 1995, "Home Improvement" celebrated 100 episodes by airing an exclusive exclusively for first-run Syndication, eventually including the episode on the ABC Network Lineup in 1996. Big changes came in September 1998, when Jonathan Taylor Thomas, by this time a teen heartthrob, left "Home Improvement" to concentrate on his real-life impending college studies, eventually graduating from Harvard University in 2004. His last regular episode served as the 2nd Season 8 episode, "Adios," on September 29, 1998 with his character of middle son Randy Taylor becoming an exchange student for a year in Costa Rica; despite continued high ratings, #10 in the Nielsens for Season 8, Tim Allen decided in January 1999 to voluntarily end "Home Improvement" after 8 successful years on ABC. The decision came after his TV wife, Pat Richardson, turned down an offer for a 9th and Final Season; ABC celebrated the success of "Home Improvement" with a 2-hour Series Finale telecast on May 25, 1999 at 8 P.M. ET (with several ABC stations replacing the 9:30 P.M. half hour with "Spin City's" Season 3 Finale episode originally telecast on May 18, 1999). In the years since then, reruns of "Home Improvement" continue to flourish in Syndication, as well as local Cable stations e.g. Nickelodeon (via its Nick at Nite Programming Block), TBS, WGN, TV Land (sister network to Nickelodeon), and most recently Hallmark Channel, with the UP Cable Network adding the series fairly recently on May 14, 2018. AND of course, starting tomorrow night, "Home Improvement" will begin airing every night at 9, on the Laff TV Network. Reruns will also begin airing on the CMT Cable Network tomorrow morning on the Weekdays. "Home Improvement" was produced by Wind Dancer Productions, Inc. in association with Walt Disney Television. I don't get it. I thought this wasn't supposed to be coming until later on in the year.
Does that mean Night Court will no longer be on at nights anymore? |

Makes me think that this is all a replacement for Roseanne and that Night Court being on at night was only for a few days.

According to the comments on Laff's Facebook page, folks are not thrilled with this being Roseanne's replacement and really want the original Roseanne show to be returned.

I don't get why Laff isn't showing all of the seasons but UP is.
