Cool CHIP!!! Does Fred know you're hanging out here???

TCM used to show their weird scary movies on late Saturday night, now for some reason they do it on Friday (I liked Sat. better). Anyway, did anyone catch "Private Parts" the 1972 movie (not Howard Stern's movie) last night on TCM?? I was surprised to see Chip(!) in this pretty subversive movie. He looked just like he did (pre-Shemp) on My 3 Sons but he was interested in these odd but sexy girls in this run-down hotel run by this very weird fat old woman with a southern accent. There was a peeping Tom/murderer, transvestites, homos, perverts well all the goodies you can throw in to a nutzoid movie, but in the middle of it all was straight laced Chip, playing a straight character exactly like he played Chip. Weird man, but fun! Most surprising to see Chip of all people amongst the freaks. Crazy, man, look out for this one and be prepared to be shocked.

Wink Oh, get a load of this

Oh, forgot. To add to the fun and frolic Chip even gets conked over the head upon entering a dark room. Then is dragged down the hall on the floor by the bad guy looking like he's dead. Oh boy, it was a thrill a minute,, esp. when the girl took a bath knowing that the Peeping guy was looking at her all the time. Wowzers! I kept waiting for him to say, "Man, Polly."

I've seen it many times, one of my favorite weird 70's flicks.

I'll have to catch that sometime...never even knew he was in any movie. Wonder if he did it after M3S ended and he needed another part.

I think that if I were to see Stanley Livingston in a movie like that I would laugh my head off watching him pretending to be someone other than the strait laced Chip Douglas. He was so typecast by M3S, I can't even look at his face without picturing him saying sheepishly, "Well, gee, Dad, I guess you're right, no wonder Polly's so hacked at me. I'd better go talk to her right away!"

I guess that's the down side to playing the same character for twelve years. You become them and they become you.

Cool See It For Yourself, but hurry

Chip wasn't really even being another character in this movie, he was really just playing Chip just like Chip would act. The weirdest thing for me was not the oddballs in the movie but seeing this short ugly guy playing Chip's father, it really would have been perfect if Fred MacMurray had played his father in this nutzy movie instead of this little guy.

Oh, I found that you can see this movie on the TCM On Demand site, here it is available until June 9th, personally, when I use this site the movie is good for the first 20 minutes or so then it starts stuttering, the sound is ahead of the picture, the picture freezes while the sound keeps going, it's a mess now, at least on my computer it is. Maybe you'll have better luck, a couple years ago I never had this problem with TCM's site. Here's the web address for you to see "Private Parts" for yourself:

It's also on the Comcast On-Demand menu, free movies, until 6/8.

Also recommended is Stanley's brother Barry Livingston (Ernie Douglas) on The Streets of San Francisco. I don't know if that's the only time Barry ever had to handle a gun while on camera.

Wink Freeze

Ernie's Got A Gun, I'm scared. I'm thinking of Aerosmith's "Janie's Got A Gun" song in my head!
