In "Night Court's" season two finale "Walk, Don't Wheel," viewers were introduced to disabled law student Kristen, who develops a crush on Harry. When Kristen invites Harry to her graduate prom as her date, Harry declines Kristen's invitation (due to a prior engagement--Harry was invited to a party hosted by New York City's then-mayor Ed Koch); Kristen takes offense to Harry's rejection as a slap in the face due to her disability, and Harry slowly begins to realize that he was insensitive to Kristen's disability, as well as her overall feelings as a human being.

I enjoyed Barbara C. Adside's performance as the disabled but quick-witted Kristen; her onscreen chemistry with the "Night Court" cast--Anderson, Larroquette, Moll, Charles Robinson, and Ellen Foley--was incredible. My only quibble about "Walk, Don't Wheel" is that it occasionally ventures into "after-school special" territory, despite a couple of laughs here and there. It's a pity that Adside didn't appear in subsequent episodes as Kristen...I would've loved to have seen Adside as a recurring guest star.

My question is this: Whatever happened to Barbara C. Adside? Though Adside worked sporadically throughout the eighties and nineties in both film and television, her last credit--according to IMdb (The Internet Movie Database)--was an episode of "Buffy The Vampire Slayer" in 2000. It's unfortunate that Adside never became a household name; she certainly had the ability and talent to do so...perhaps Adside's disability (she was born without the lower halves of her legs) hindered her from making her mark in Hollywood.
