Roseanne Barr Apologizes To Obama Aide for “Apes” Remark, Vows To Leave Twitter
by Denise Petski May 29, 2018 Roseanne Barr says she is leaving Twitter after apologizing for calling Valerie Jarrett, a former adviser to President Barack Obama, an offspring of the “Muslim Brotherhood & Planet of the Apes.” Barr apologized then vowed to leave Twitter. About five minutes later she expanded on her apology. “I apologize to Valerie Jarrett and to all Americans,” Barr tweeted. “I am truly sorry for making a bad joke about her politics and her looks. I should have known better. Forgive me-my joke was in bad taste.” She has not tweeted anything since. http://deadline.com/2018/05/roseanne...er-1202399025/ Reactions to Roseanne Barr's Racist Tweet by Greg Evans May 29, 2018 Roseanne Barr’s noxious, racist tweet likening former Barack Obama aide Valerie Jarrett to a Planet of the Apes character has drawn quick condemnation from Hollywood, including from her ex-husband Tom Arnold, while former Fox News host Eric Bolling tweeted — then deleted — that the Roseanne star owed no apology. Arnold, replying to a post by CNN’s Brian Stelter, called Barr’s tweets “dangerous”, while MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough tweeted: “There is no apology she can make that justifies @ABC turning a blind eye to this bigotry by airing another second of her show. Even in the Age of Trump, there are red lines that can never be crossed. This is one.” Lawrence O'Donnell Everyone fell for Roseanne’s big premiere rating. Ratings collapsed after that (as they almost always do). Rosanne’s ratings aren’t worth today’s burden for Disney & ABC. They don’t have to be brave to cancel her. Maybe they just have to be good business executives. Rev. Al Sharpton The comparison by Rosanne Barr on ABC of Former Obama aide, Valerie Jarrett to an APE is racist and inexcusable. ABC must take action NOW! Patricia Arquette: I am repulsed that Valerie Jarret had that racist and bigoted "joke" made at her expense and I am sickened that any Black or Muslim person has to keep hearing this sickness in 2018. http://deadline.com/2018/05/roseanne...gh-1202399035/ Wanda Sykes Says She’s Leaving "Roseanne" after Star’s Racially Charged Tweet by Erik Pedersen May 29, 2018 As the outcry swells over Roseanne Barr’s vile tweet about former Barack Obama aide Valerie Jarrett, Wanda Sykes tweeted today that she is leaving ABC’s "Roseanne" revival, on which she served as a writer and consulting producer. "I will not be returning to @RoseanneOnABC." http://deadline.com/2018/05/wanda-sy...rr-1202399109/ |

ABC Cancels "Roseanne" Revival after Barr's Racist Tweet
by Lisa de Moraes and Nellie Andreeva May 29, 2018 ABC has abruptly canceled Roseanne Barr’s hit comedy series revival following a morning in which the star launched a tirade of racist and anti-semitic tweets. “Roseanne’s Twitter statement is abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values, and we have decided to cancel her show,” ABC Entertainment chief Channing Dungey just announced. http://deadline.com/2018/05/roseanne...ts-1202399123/ |

Why can't some people just learn to keep their mouth shut and to stay off social media with their opinions?! Honestly, it's not hard to do...

Just wanted to add this to my post above:
I believe 100% in freedom of speech but when it hurts or harms someone else or if it's used for selfish reasons, it's used as a weapon and I'm not supportive of that. Use your freedom for good. |

Always been on her side, always will, but there's no doubt she's totally wrong this time. She always said what passed through her mind without thinking twice, but today consequences are worse than ever.
Her political views aren't welcome on today's television, and a popular show from a creator who supports Trump is on the edge of a cliff; they were just waiting for her to make a faux-pas and holy moly she did a huge one. I'm sorry not only for the show being canceled, but mostly on the whole media-people situation in America. If Twitter is a mirror of the reality, then the situation is just awful: it looks like a country on the verge of another civil war, where hundreds of thousand of people are waiting for someone saying something wrong and attack him like vultures. The fact that ABC instantly pulled the show out of its schedule is a clear symptom that today angry people have too much power. |

I detest the president and I also dislike how Roseanne has become in latter years bit it never stopped me from liking the show, aincluding the revival.
I honestly feel like instead of outright canceling the show, they should've done a Charlie Sheen or Valerie Harper and just end up killing Roseanne Connor in between seasons, renaming it "The Connors" or something like that, because the rest of the cast doesn't deserve to lose their gig because of Barr's inability to censor herself on Twitter. As long as I had Darlene and Jackie, I'm good. Roseanne of course is a character I always loved but if having to kill her off would be the way to keep everyone else going, I'd be down for it. Seeing Dan, Jackie and the children coming to terms with life without her would actually bring forth some great episodes. |
