Default Are original VHS versions of Disney movies very collectible for Disney fans?

Mom and I were discussing Disney movies and she told me that original VHS versions of Disney movies have been collector's items for years and I would like to know if it is true? Because I've read that the original VHS release of Disney's Fantasia sells for a million dollars and I never knew that before I read about it. A second Disney movie that is very very collectible is the original 1989 VHS version of The Little Mermaid because I read that it had a very explicit cover art and Disney removed the first versions of The Little Mermaid from store shelves and replaced the cover art with a better cover art. Another sought after film was the original 1988 VHS release of Cinderella and when it first came out my aunt wanted to buy it but could never find it anywhere and when Disney rereleased Cinderella in 1995 the original version from 1988 became scarce to find. With Disney making the movies in remastered Diamond Edition DVD releases will the VHS versions of Disney movies continue to go up in price as the years go by?

LOL, if the original Disney VHS of Fantasia really sells for a million dollars, then I need to find a buyer because I have it, and it's in excellent/near mint condition. I also have the original Disney VHS of Lady And The Tramp. Can I get a million dollars for that one too?

This isn't true. It's one of those old rumors that never goes away.

You can find original Disney VHS on eBay for cheap.

LOL, I know that, I was just playing around here.

I doubt I would ever be that lucky to own something that I could sell and get a million dollars for. While I do have some cool collectible stuff, to my knowledge it's nothing of super high value that I would get instantly rich from if I tried to sell it.

Oh No

If the VHS had the controversial centaur from the original Fantasia...then that should be a bargain since it got edited because of the black centaur being a servant...it didn't fly during the 1968 re-release...and God Forbid it'd fly today!

I don't know what you've read, but it's nowhere near that expensive. I've seen some Ebay sellers selling it for $1,000 and others have it way cheaper than that.

Some folks thought that one of the castle towers resembled a penis and went into a frenzy. Disney went and changed the covers to avoid the backlash.

Some Ebay sellers have it going for the thousands and others on Amazon sell it new for $40.00

Also, understand that not all Disney VHS tapes are rare or expensive and what Ebay sellers use as their listing price may not be what people are actually paying for them.

Another Disney movie on VHS that is very collectible that also became scarce to find is the original 1988 version of Sleeping Beauty and I didn't know that the original Sleeping Beauty was very collectible until my teacher told me about it and she had the video for my classmates to watch when my school used to have Movie Day when I was a kid. Mom had been wanting the original Sleeping Beauty but we got the 1997 rerelease of Sleeping Beauty and I often wonder if the original Sleeping Beauty has gone up in value since it's releases on DVD and Blu-Ray?

Go here for the original 1986 VHS of Sleeping Beauty. They go pretty cheap for used copies.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-list...&condition=all

A new one is going for $200 on Ebay.

Another fact I discovered about Disney movies on VHS that I wonder that it makes them collector's items is that the movies were originally part of a series called The Classics and then the video series was called Walt Disney's Masterpiece Collection and I often wonder if that makes them more collectible too. The logo for The Classics started with Mickey Mouse appearing and with thrilling music playing the diamond logo of Disney Classics appeared. Before that The Classics Logo had a plain blue background
