Wildcats is also based on a comic book, and one of the reasons it bares similarities to the X-Men or Fantastic Four is because creator Jim Lee had previously worked on those comic series.

The original comic was aimed for adults, the cartoon had many changes made from the original comics to make it kid friendly.

WildC.A.T.S. Was a comic produced by Image comics. It also had the animated series that aired on USA, the action figures, and even a videogame for the Super Nintendo.
