Sad Margot Kidder Dies at 69

Margot Kidder Dies: Superman and Amityville Horror Actress was 69
by Erik Pedersen
May 14, 2018

Margot Kidder, who played Lois Lane opposite Christopher Reeve in the 1970s and ’80s Superman movies and starred in many other films including The Amityville Horror before struggling with mental illness in her later years, has died. She was 69.

The Franzen-Davis Funeral Home in Livingston, MT, said she died Sunday but did not give a cause of death.

Born on October 17, 1948, in Yellowknife, Canada, Kidder started her career in TV in the late 1960s, guesting on such shows as "McQueen" and "The Mod Squad".

She starred opposite Gene Wilder in the 1970 film Quackster Fortune Has a Cousin in the Bronx before landing a regualr role on the 1971-72 NBC drama "Nichols", starring Jim Garner, and continued to work mostly in TV until appearing in four films in 1974, including The Great Waldo Pepper.

Sad

I just saw this on another site and came here to post about it because I knew there would be a thread.

So sad and shocking to hear. She was scheduled to be at the comic con here next weekend. I met her at the same comic con in 2013. She was super nice to me.

May she

She's in 2 of my favorite horror films Black Christmas (she steals the show with her hilarious performance), and Brian De Palma's Sisters.

So sad. I always thought she was so pretty and she was the best Lois Lane. God rest her soul.

Torgo, I can always count on you to steer me to another horror movie! I've never heard of Black Christmas but I just ordered it from amazon. Looks great!

RIP Margot.

First saw her in Gaily, Gaily, but really noticed her in Quackser Fortune Has a Cousin in the Bronx. Agree with Torgo on Black Christmas and Sisters, and with Mr. Television on best Lois Lane - and 'so pretty'.

No but if I had to guess I would say she was taking a cocktail of drugs like Heath Ledger and one of her organs just gave out.

She'll always be the only real Lois Lane to me.

I always thought she did a great job with "The Amityville Horror", too, as well as many other roles.

A beautiful, talented and intelligent actress. Her humanity always shone through on the big screen.
