Has Lionel Richie gone away from R&B music and switched to country music? - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

Ever since he released his country album and had a hit with the remake of Endless Love with Shania Twain I seem to think that Lionel Richie has attempted to attract a country sound on some of his albums and I cannot figure out why Lionel Richie decided to do this? Is it because Lionel Richie wanted to become huge in the country market or is because he is slowly drawing away from R&B music and hopes to be a hit in country music with a new audience?Ever since Lionel Richie had a hit with the song Stuck On You the song had country elements and it seemed that Lionel Richie had talent for country music and so it makes me think that Lionel Richie will make more country albums in the future

If he were to do country, it wouldn't be his first time. I love to hear him sing "Deep River Woman" which included help from legendary country band Alabama.

I got to listen to Lionel Richie's country album this morning and it's such amazing album and how he decided to do country versions of his hit songs is pure genius. Among the gems of the album is his version of Stuck On You with Darius Rucker and Darius and Lionel bring new life into the song and really is great. How Willie Nelson got to duet with Lionel on Easy is beyond me? Because Easy is a wonderful song but Willie and Lionel's version just seems odd. My mom used to have a cassette of Lionel Richie's Can't Slow Down and she was amazed at this album too. It would sure be neat to have a Volume II of this album with songs like Penny Lover with George Strait Ballerina Girl with Vince Gill Running With The Night with Lonestar and Three Times A Lady with Travis Tritt
