Rolleyes Looking for workprints that were floating around in the 1990's-2000's (revised)

Hi everyone,
I deleted my post as I'm attempting to revise it, fix it up a little. I'm looking for workprints that were in trading circles in the 1990's-2000's before disappearing entirely. Each month, I will be offering a deal for what I'm after. My want and trade list will be updated with whatever I can find. Whenever a title on my want list has a found it means it has begun to appear again in trading circles.

If something on my want list is labeled *found, it means I have found someone with a copy and I'm currently in the process of trying to trade for it. It doesn't mean I have it, it also means that it's circulating again and once I do have the item it'll be removed from my want list.

At the time of this writing, I've spoken to at least 2 people who have had the Crash workprint but unfortunately the one person isn't trading anymore and the other has lost the tape but has given me a ton of information about it. Crash is one of the holy grail workprints I'm after but the only problem is the private collectors who do have it are either long gone, not trading anymore or they demand something extremely rare that's hard to find. I just wish I could find that one private trader who could help me out in obtaining a copy. It's weird to me that it was being traded around and years later it's disappeared and no one is trading it. Maybe, I'll get lucky one day but for now people, if you have information on it or have a copy, I'll reward you handsomely.

You know, you might try to see if you can find some active forums devoted to the director of Crash, David Cronenberg. He has somewhat of a cult following. I think the workprint began circulating among fans on the old alt.cult-movies.cronenberg Usenet group back in the 90s.

I don't think it's weird. Most of the music bootlegs i traded 20 years ago are still around. Not only are they still around but better quality. Same time all these workprints were around too if not longer then the workprints you're after.

Most workprint collector's i would call them hoarders then actual traders. A hoarder is a person in the trading world who hoards rare stuff to themselves. There's collector's who hoard "rare" UN-circulated concerts to themselves for YEARS before they make it public. If they make it public all. I guess it makes peoples E penis big. J/K

Plus there's a night and day difference between sitcom, music bootleg traders, and / workprint traders. This weekend i set up a trade in a day and a half. We know what each other want, we got our addresses exchanged, and we're ready to go. Email a workprint trader? They'll take 2 weeks to respond. Take 3 more weeks to work out a deal. Another 1 or two sending. People like that in other collector groups would get blacklisted not for being a bad trader, but for being a slow trader. Is it me or do a some of these workprint collector's have a attitude like we need them more then they need us? It's awful.

Jeff your Naive to think whoever you're talking to actually has a copy. There's no real proof anyone has anything unless they can provide some concrete evidence. Screen shots, video of it playing in their player.

I agree everything workprint collectors want is still locked in studio vaults or being hoarded by another trader that wants the Batman workprint

I used to know a collector that would make people sign contracts that he can sue them for breach of contact if what he gives them were made publicly.

There's no real workprint collector's out there really too. Everyone since 2010 proboly downloads their stuff, creates lists, and try to trade. Then no one trades cause everyone has the same stuff that's widely available on the internet. Now you got traders with mp4/.avi/mkv sourced discs, and you gotta be sure you're getting a true VHS<DVDR disc. It's awful.

So speaking of rare workprints.... Jeff do you have the new nightmare workprint? It's still listed on your list but you keep telling me you don't have it. Got the Jason Vs. Freddy and Daredevil though so workprints thanks buddy!

Also i would like to add I've known people that will trade for official stuff if you don't have anything bootleg wise to offer. Got nothing to offer at all? Trade 3-5 blanks for one burnt DVDR. So stuff actually circulated. Can you believe it people actually wanted to sh sh sh sh share back then? People would trade rare stuff for common stuff too. It's all about people's attitudes. The worst part of workprint collecting is the workprint collector's themselves. If i could just buy everything and avoid trading i would but as you know Jeff you gotta trade to get some stuff!

You want proof you can't handle the proof! J/K Your heart is in the right place though. I did the same thing you did years ago but i bought everything off of Stumpy's, ioffer, asylum, and even other traders. You can only get so far before you have to trade. I emailed people, asked on file sharing forums. Created account here.

Justin is right though with internet fan clubs like the goldeneye one have workprints. Maybe you could plant friends or yourself in there and just be nice rub elbows find out who has it. I'd be nice to everybody there for a whole year knowing i could get the goldeneye workprint in return.

But Justin you should help out! You are retired i understand that. I only want at max 5 things from your list. You rather send Jeff on a wild goose chase too then help the poor guy out You literally have stuff he wants! For a guy who has a supposedly a 80 page trade list you can't spare a few things? I few pitiful outdated workprints shouldn't be a big deal right?

Your list looks amazing BTW!

At the time of this writing, another lost workprint has surfaced, Spice World (1997). I've been told by private sources that it has some cut footage and I'm in the process of getting a copy. This is hope that one day more and more lost workprints will eventually surface.

I possibly have found the Armageddon workprint so fingers crossed until I get proof. Until then, the search is on for those lost workprints. I may be retiring from trading but I'm not going to stop hunting and helping others with their collections.
