Splash Mermaid Lisa - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

Splash 1984 ( The Mermaid Movie) was always one of my favorite movies.
I watched it the other day. I was on imdb Internet Movie Data Base looking it up. In the trivia section this is what it said:

Lisa Whelchel , due to her huge popularity as Blair from the Facts of Life (1979) was also considered for Madison .

The role went to Daryl Hannah. Could you imagine Lisa playing Madison?
I never knew this. I wonder if she would have done it.

I can picture her having been pretty good in that role. In any event, the thing that I most associate that movie with is the fact that, when it first came out, my Hebrew school teacher was interested in seeing it.

I could see that happening! I wonder what else she had been considered for.

I can't imagine Lisa taking that role. Darryl Hannah's role was very sexy, there's a lot of swearing, and Lisa boycotted even the episode of FOL where Natalie had pre-marital sex. It would never have worked.
