Please forgive me if there was already a thread on the subject, but I know there were a number of UM cases over the years that influenced my habits. I've always been curious if some of my fellow fans had been impacted in the same way.
For example: --The Matthew Chase segment made me stop visiting ATMs alone at night. --The Patsy Wright segment put me off cough syrup for months...much to my parents' dismay, I'm sure. --The Amy Bradley case is the reason I've never gone on a cruise. (Although to be fair, my mama also had a scary "near miss" while on a cruise that I'm sure also had an effect.) What about you all? Has a UM segment ever impacted your habits? |

I haven't touched any statues because I don't ever want to get pregnant.

After the La Posada segment, I was scared of going in the bathroom, for a while, because of that creepy mirror ghost in the reenactment. Later in life, I was working in a restaurant (as a closer) and would have to clean the bathrooms. Don't think that I didn't think of that scene more than once when walking into the bathrooms there hahaha
Also, I almost stopped smoking because Megadeth man said I probably shouldn't. |

I stopped accepting rides to the BART station from Jule Caylor.
Jule said “It was hell having you ride along, and now that you’re gone things are going pretty well.”

can't remember for sure but one of the first episodes I watched was "carol" and murder on music row...I think they were in the same episode but not 100%. I was only 6 years old at that time. I know after that episode I was scared to walk from the living room of our apartment to my bedroom without every light on. I still get the creeps when I watch the Kevin Hughes segment...and it just gets me upset how callous of a murder that was and that people got away with if for so long.

(a) Amy Bradley - I went to Greece with my parents and my sister and her friend two years ago. My parents, my sister/ and her female companion (who were both 18 at the time) took a five night cruise around Greece, while I flew to Rome. It scared me that my sister was on a cruise, drinking and dancing, without "adult supervision". I told her about Amy Bradley's case. Her case still haunts me on ships.
This year she has it in her head she wants to do a semester at sea. Again, I have warned her about it. I just don't like the idea of cruise ships, ship staff, and alcohol mixing after the sun goes down. (b) I too look at security cameras, but I feel like I shouldn't. Often times I can hear Robert Stack and maybe Robin Warder/ or Gen WHY narrating my steps as I am being recorded, as if they are my final steps, later to be dissected by social media. |

I remember my first time being alone with a woman in a hotel room at the age of 20 (at a work party). I am sure it's obvious what most men think in this situation but all I could think of was the Rose Turford and Carolyn Stevens case. In other words, when was the gun going to come out? Hope I didn't make the woman TOO uncomfortable!
Yes, I watched WAY too much UM in my teenage years.

That is priceless! Little did you know, the woman was also a UM devotee and was thinking of the Sandra Orellana/Robert Salazar case, and hoping you wouldn't throw her off the balcony. |

When I was a kid, I stopped riding bikes to the convenience store with friends after I saw the Michaela Garecht segment.
