New virus for file sharing programs such as KAZAA, Morepheus, etc... - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

For those users that use file sharing programs such as KAZAA, Morepheus, LimeWire, Bear Share, etc... There is a virus called Benjamin that is being spread through these P2P networks.

To spread, the worm requires that the Kazaa software is installed on the machine. It creates a directory called %WINDIR%\TEMP\SYS32, and changes the Kazaa settings so that remote users can download from this directory. Then it copies itself to that directory under many different names which other users may search for. The size of these files can vary since the worm pads them with garbage bytes. The SYS32 directory can grow to be very large (1 - 3 GB), causing your hard drive to slowy be filled with junk files.

If you have any of these file sharing programs, and notice your hard drive getting full, or the presence of a Explorer.scr file in you computer, you may already be infected. Please make sure your Anti-Virus software is updated and running correctly. (McAfee users need atleast DAT 4204 to detect and remove this virus).

Yikes, Yea, I heard about that on Nortons Website, Thank goodness I don't have Kazaa(DOWN WITH KAZAA!)

I have KaZaA but I don't download any more songs because I have all the ones I want. I just listen to them.

Programs, I recommend KaZaA....it's very fast. Just scan often to be on the safe side, and you should be ok

OMG no! Kazaa is very evil...erm okay so this is an opinion but I got proof! Spyware! Spyware is evil! and erm...other people can explain it better. I'm not crazy...really I'm not...

You know, I rather be scanning and listening to KaZaA than going on saying "IT HAS SPYWARE! IT HAS SPYWARE!" I swear, people these days are way to paranoid and just need to chill. Just my opinion so don't go jumping all over my back, not that I care if you do.......................

Hah personally I don't give a damn about Spywhere....I mean seriously, what are they going to do...by looking at what other programs I have, they won't find out much about me. All they will find out is how much I love Lisa Whelchel!

Erm I can't help that much since Justin is the leader lol but erm it's good to be paranoid! It's like Dr. Woodard from "Dark Shadows" who was stupid enough to tell everyone he knows Barnabas' secret...he wasn't paranoid. Look what happened to him!
