The NCAA granted a special waiver to Notre Dame's Arike Ogunbowale to compete on Dancing, saying that her appearance on the show had nothing to do with her basketball abilities. "I couldn’t for the life of me understand the explanation,” said Rice, “because obviously she’s there because she hit two winning shots in two basketball games (in the women’s Final Four), so that’s the connection.”
