At the time of the million dollar game show craze NBC did a remake of the classic 50's game show Twenty One. Hosted by Maury Povich this new version of Twenty One was played just as well as the 50's version and with two twists exclusive to this version with the first twist named Second Chances in which a contestant called on a friend or family member for help on questions if they were stuck and the second twist had the contestants take their winnings in souvenir Twenty One tote bags. And like the original Twenty One this version had a million dollar champion and he was lucky like Charles Van Doren. In my eyes this version of Twenty One should've lasted longer and had more episodes to be seen. Maury Povich should host another game show someday because he was so talented as a game show star. This remake of Twenty One also aired in reruns on PAX TV too

Hi, Bestie! I never saw that show. I don't like Maury. Here ia a question for you. Is "Catch 21" a spin off of the 50's show 21 too?

Catch 21 is a version of the 70's gameshow Gambit.
The 2000 Version of "Twenty One" was EXCELLENT!!! Maury Povich really did a phenominal job as a host, and consider too this was the only game show he has ever or since hosted. The great background music was done by a live orchestra!!! and I especially liked the bonus game where contestants answered true/false questions and could add up to $210,000 to their winnings!!! I think NBC should bring this show back. They are having great ratings success with "The Wall" and "Hollywood Game Night" Why Not! Maybe a daytime version could work, 5 hours of the Today Show every day just isn't cutting it!!!! |
