Movie Netflix Execs. Reveal 10 Horror Films Viewers were Too Scared to Finish

Per new data from the streaming service, whose contents were reported by Forbes, there’s a swath of films currently on the streaming service that tend to be switched off, en masse, after viewers get a little more than two-thirds of the way through.

According to Netflix, they used a 70-percent threshold to determine the “too scary” factor, since content is typically stopped much earlier when the motivating factor is dislike or disinterest.

Cabin Fever (2016)
Carnage Park (2016)
México Bárbaro (2014)
Piranha (2010)
Raw (2016)
Teeth (2007)
The Conjuring (2013)
The Human Centipede 2: Full Sequence (2011)
The Void (2016)
Jeruzalem (2015)

Cabin Fever (2016), the only thing scary about this was how awful it was.

Carnage Park? I know it's subjective, but this wasn't scary, and I don't see how it could even be taken that way.

Eh, I can't see any of these films being too scary for anyone to finish.

I've seen none of these (though I originally thought the "Cabin Fever" was the older one; I have seen that), but I think they are all fairy gory. Maybe that's why the viewers didn't want to finish them? Seems like viewers conflate "gory" with "scary" a lot. I'm OK with gore, but I don't like it when it seems to be the main reason for making the film, or when it's a substitute for a really scary premise (and execution).

Can't say I've ever NOT been able to finish a horror film; wouldn't you want to know how it turns out?

A few on the list are gory like Piranha, and they maybe were disgusted by Human Centipede 2, but I don't see how Netflix can assume the reason people stopped watching any of these movies because of percentages watched, any number of reasons people stop watching films whether out of boredom or distraction or countless other reasons be it 5 minutes or an hour in.

The only horror movies I've not finished is because of how bad they were and I didn't want to waste any more time on them. I don't get why someone would stop watching a horror movie because it's too scary, to me that's like not finishing a comedy because it's too funny.

I DID fall asleep while watching "Lady in the Water". And I didn't rewatch it (it was a rental) when I woke up.

Ha, yeah, I've fell asleep through quite a few, some I did finish, others I had no desire to.
