Default March Madness

Every March when March Madness starts I can never understand why March Madness is such a big deal and when it starts it seems that March Madness is the second most watched sporting event in the world next to the Super Bowl and I would like to know why this is? Is it because people who like college basketball watch March Madness because it's exciting to watch? Or is it because it's a huge moneymaker for TV sports every March? Because it seems that a lot of stores and restaurants such as Foot Locker Pizza Hut Champs Sports and McDonald's do a lot of promotion on March Madness and it tells me that March Madness has become bigger than ever before. Finally why does CBS and TNT have exclusive rights to March Madness rather than ABC or NBC or ESPN? Because I cannot believe that CBS has rights to March Madness and why does CBS preeempt the morning soap operas and game shows like The Price Is Right and Let's Make A Deal and CBS should put the soap operas and LMAD and TPIR in their regular timeslots on the weekdays when March Madness airs and air the March Madness games on the weekends and that would be easy for CBS fans to see their shows without being preempted by basketball

Actually Besite, I think CBS made a right decision for not airing The Talk, Let’s Make a Deal, B&B and Y&R on both days during NCAA Round 1 March Madness games. But in my city, only The Price is Right airs(in repeats) before NCAA Tourney Games start at 11am CST Today & Tomorrow as i checked the TitanTV online.

So Let's Make A Deal will return on Monday after the first games of March Madness air tomorrow and the weekend? I dislike it when CBS preempts shows due to March Madness and that makes me unhappy
Thank you AMackII for the info

Why I think March Madness has become popular is because it's a way to make money and to get ratings for CBS. Because even before March Madness begins a lot of restaurants such as Pizza Hut and Burger King advertise March Madness commercials with things like "get in on the excitement of March Madness with our special pizza deal" Or Burger King has a deal that says " fill out our special Burger King bracket for a chance to win Whoppers" and what it tells me that March Madness is the second biggest sporting event next to the Super Bowl for commercials and promotions. But what I can't figure out is why didn't ABC or NBC get the rights to March Madness instead of CBS? Because I think why CBS got March Madness rights was because CBS is the king of sports and they think this event is the answer to big ratings

CBS, TNT, TBS and TruTv has exclusive rights until 2032. That's why ABC or NBC won't air the games. I do think they need a alternate time to air the soaps like 10:30 AM until noon during March Madness time. I think the popularity comes from people doing the bracket challenges like on ESPN.COM for example.

If your local CBS affiliate has subchannels, you might want to check them for daytime programming that's been temporarily moved over there due to the tournament. Commonly done for local news, for example.

March Madness has a lot of tall black men in it.

Two things make March Madness, the one and done format, win you move on, lose you're out. Second are the brackets, they are a lot of fun and you don't really need to know much to fill one out. It makes for a fun contest around the office, the local watering hole, whatever. I've visited sites that tailor the concept to the specific interest area of the site (music, movies....).
