The opposite of "Jumping the Shark" is "Growing a Beard".

Happy Days improved a lot when Fonzie became more popular.

The Mary Tyler Moore Show improved after the first few seasons. In fact, I remember, when a local station reran the series many years ago, they skipped the first three seasons.

Barney Miller certainly improved after its first season-and-a-half, and stayed in a groove during the rest of its run on ABC all the way to 1982.

Definitely Green Acres. After the first seasons it became much more clever and funny.

yea, he got the idea to do H D that way from O C.

However, I don't agree about H D. That's when it "Jumped the shark"

Star Trek: DS9, Homicide: Life on the Street, Barney Miller, NYPD Blue.

Honestly, I think most successful shows improve after their first year, when they are just figuring out what will work and what won't.

Monk improved when Natalie replaced Sharona. Benson improved when Clayton Endicott replaced Taylor at the start of season 2. Dragnet improved when Harry Morgan was made Jack Webb's partner in the color episodes. Star Trek: Voyager was a big improvement when Seven of Nine replaced Kes in season 4. Heartland improved when Georgie was made a regular. Blue Bloods improved when Baez and Jenko were made Danny and Jamie's partners. Law and Order really improved when Jerry Orbach and Sam Waterston were made the stars.
