Did My Little Pony writers have to pay for this one? - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

I went shopping for one of the My Little Pony figures to impress a coworker that I wish I could go on an outing with who's a fan of My Little Pony, and the one I happened to buy is called Applejack, and that's been a brand of cereal for decades. Was that a trademark name, and did they have to pay in order to use it for the name of the character?

Doubtful, applejack is a type of alcoholic drink made from apples that has been around longer than the cereal of the same name.

Well I'm not up on booze because I don't drink the stuff, but my uncle had a Mister Doughnut that was trying to sue him when he was running Mr. Steak restaurants, and they didn't win because the honorifics were different. Unless that type of booze is something you can buy in a store like you can Apple Jack cereal, then nobody's making much profit off it except bartenders; but the company that puts out My Little Pony pony figures and combs makes profit off their product. I just grabbed one at random, and that's the one she got. I'll probably buy others in the future for her and learn all their names; but unless I'm with her, I'm not gonna be watching it on television or going to see it in the theater if they come out with anymore movies; and I have a feeling they've done at least one movie.
