Default I found it peculiar that Jack Riley guest-starred in three episodes during season one

During "Diff'rent Strokes'" eight-season run, the late Jack Riley (best known for his recurring role as Elliot Carlin on "The Bob Newhart Show," as well as the voice of Stu Pickles on "Rugrats") made four guest appearances--three of them during the first season alone!

In season one, Riley guest-starred as eccentric private investigator Miles Monroe in "Goodbye, Dolly"; the Drummonds' obnoxious landlord Charles Sutton in "The New Landlord"; and pompous headmaster Mr. Crocker in "The Girls' School" (which was the backdoor pilot for the long-running spin-off "The Facts Of Life"; "Facts" premiered three months later). Riley's fourth and final guest appearance on "Strokes" occurred during season seven, when he played assembly line worker Pete in "Blue Collar Drummond."

Enjoy your evening, everyone!

Why do you find his appearances peculiar?

You did not explain the supposed peculiarities.

I am terribly sorry, Wawwie! I was so busy submitting my thread to this forum that I completely forgot to explain why Jack Riley appeared in three (out of four overall) episodes during "Diff'rent Strokes'" first season! So, without further adieu...

The reason why I found it peculiar that Jack Riley appeared in three episodes during season one of "Strokes" was because Riley was friends with the writers and producers...Riley had probably worked with them on other programs several years earlier.

There you have it, Wawwie! Enjoy your evening, as well as the remainder of your weekend!

Well it's peculiar because you wouldn't think a show would hire the same actor to play 3 different roles, particularly within one season (ideally only one actor plays one role, just like people are only one person in real life, lol). But, things like that do happen.

Yeah I liked Jack Riley's very dry line deliveries
