Anyone notice how Mama evolves into what she originally was?

Is it just me, or do you notice how in the later syndicated episodes of Mama's Family, Mama's character becomes very similar to what it was in the very early Family Sketches from the C.B. Show?

In the early Family Sketches Mama was much more feisty, ad actually had her happy moments, like when she was dating once, she was going through the house singing ~I actually though Eunice and Mama were in opposite roles in that episode~ Mama was also playful doing impressions of her dog Topaz.

Then as the Family Sketches when on, Mama becomes more and more the gloomy, hateful Mama that is more familiar to the Sketches, then when Mama's Family started, Mama starts out on a gloomy note, but as the series went on, she becomes more and more comical and feisty.

I've hear ppl describe Mama at the end of Mama's Family as "Vickie Lawrance in a gray wig" and to me that is basically what she was at the beginning of the Sketches.

Yes, I've always noticed this. I actually prefer the crankier, 'out-of-touch' Mama from the NBC years. I found her more believable than the later years, when, for example, she entered the scene carrying her groceries, wiggling her butt and singing "Proud Mary".

I wouldn't say the end-syndicated Mama was like the early "Family" sketches Mama. She was still very different. The very first "Family" sketch, and "Mama's Boyfriend", are the two exceptions among those sketches in regards to Mama being a little more light-hearted. In the rest she is the cranky/miserable, and even in those two sketches showing Mama more light-hearted she still shows those moments of cantankerousness and irascibility.

I thought in the very first Family Sketch when Phillip came to visit, Mama was much more playful and feisty as well, doing an impression of the dog Topaz, that seemed like something Syndicated Mama would do lol

I also noticed Mama's attire was more similar in the early family sketches and in the later syndicated episodes of M.F. In the early Family Skits Mama's hair is that round "bubble" look and she has round glasses, and it's that way again in the syndicated Mamas Family, But in the later Family Sketches and NBC M.F. her hair is more straight, and she has the flat top glasses. LOL It's almost like the Family Skits are a reversed M.F. lol
