Polygraph machines don't check for what's true, it checks what you perceive or believe to be true.

So if the man genuinely believes he's a time traveler (delusional), then it would say he's telling the truth and not intentionally deceiving.

I agree with JamesG. I think the man is either a liar, or delusional. This is why he doesn't want to describe the future. And how convenient he didn't bring any tech from that year with him. In any case, I just don't think time travel is possible. Even from 2030. This is a hoax.

That's correct.

I've heard of several but when you start questioning them about future events they always clam up and are like, "I have no desire in convincing anyone" and refuse to answer questions.... YET they always want to MAKE IT KNOWN they are from the future.

I say they either need to be FORTH-COMING and use their skill to help mankind or be considered irrelevant and crazy

If I was a time traveler and went back to the past, I would forth-coming.... I'd be like, "X is going to happen on THIS date" "You need to take precaution on THIS date because THIS will happen" Oh and here is the cure for cancer.

I would bring PROOF with me, photos, etc.. if I wanted people to take me serious... INSTEAD of being all illusive like, "Hey, I'm from the future, but I'm not interested in convincing anyone, I refuse to answer any questions, I'm not telling you what's going to happen, it's not important whether you believe me or not, lalalalalala"

I tell them if they're not going to help mankind they can F right off!

They never do want to describe the future.

John Titor was a story I followed back in the 2000s, he did describe the future to an extent, and I was intrigued by his story BUT he also refused to answer many questions that could help humanity so he can F off too and stop wasting our time

Of course it is. Just like the 'psychics' that constantly predict the future but never want to go back to their old predictions and see that virtually none of them came true.

Maybe he's afraid if he reveals the future, it might change the path of world events sufficient that the future he comes from will cease to exist? **poof** etc?

Serious question: If you were a time traveler, how would you survive, financially?

For instance, suppose you go back to 1880......all the money currently in your pocket is counterfeit. Whatever bank you currently use most likely wont even exist. And at today's exchange rate, buying gold "high" today just so you can sell "low" at your destination date seems to me to be a recipe for disaster.

An actual market for most of the tech we have today won't even exist,,so the opportunity to wow the yokels is problematic

So, other than betting on sports out comes (with money you wont have) times could be tough.

I guess you could sell pocket flashlights to the wealthy, as a novelty. But good luck teaching them how to construct a battery factory.

I suppose you might impress everyone by accurately predicting the assassination of President Garfield, but I personally suspect that such powers would bring more grief than wealth. Not to mention that you'd probably starve waiting for predictable events to transpire.

SO, "labor in a knitting mill for 12 cents per day"? lol
