After Beaver ruins the suit coat with bleach he and Ward have a talk. Ward tries to help and says “Beaver in the past when you’ve done something like this you have always come to me.” HE HAS?
When he wrecked Wally’s trophy he glued it together. When he wrecked Ward’s baseball he substituted another ball with fake signatures thanks to Larry. When he broke the car window he and Wally tried to hide it. When he “flatted” the tire he and Wally tried to fix it. Later when he thought he broke his golf club he bought another. Beaver has always tried to hide his mistakes so this was true to form. Even Wally hid the wet hiking boots and wet clothes and broken headlight. The only time he confessed was when he smashed the kite. Did I leave anything out? |

He hid the accordion in the upstairs hall closet.
He went to the lawyer to get out of the modeling contract--anything not to tell Ward. Rather than tell Ward he lost the library book, he went to the library to keep Ward from going to jail for not paying the fine. He DID tell Ward he got in trouble with the record club. It took him awhile, though. Wasn't Beaver crying when he finally 'fessed up on the suit? Maybe Ward was doing anything to calm him down. |

And, related to that, when things went wrong that weren't caused by his misconduct, he didn't tell Ward.
When he didn't want to go to the all-girl party he had Wally try to call in sick for him. When he didn't make the school band he kept going to school carrying the clarinet. When he bought a "girl's sweater" he tried to ditch it at the movie theater. When he bought something for himself with his birthday money he didn't tell Ward even though Ward would have given him permission to buy it. When the salesman gave him the wrong size ice skates he hung out in the library. When he didn't make the basketball team he still "crumbed up" his sneakers. |

Beaver confessed to smoking the pipe. He didn't want Wally to be blamed for it. Beaver and Wally both confessed in the end when Beaver let the bath water overflow and it caused the ceiling plaster to break. Beaver also confessed after he spoiled Wally's party, after Eddie and one of the girls blamed Wally for what happened. |

He did tell Ward when he let Larry use Ward's drill, and Larry ended up drilling a hole in the garage wall. Then, feeling Ward was unfair with him, he ran away, with Ward's blessing. I guess one can see why he was hesitant to go to Ward.

Like in Tire Trouble. Ward was rather sarcastic and said "Did you two have a nice day getting the garage all spic and span for your old dad?" Wally knew something was up as he mentioned how Ward had the goods on them. Love how Ward says "You didn't have to sneak that tire off. You boys could have told me you had a little bad luck today and the tire's flat and I probably would have said okay we'll take it down and get it fixed. Wally- "Ya I know Dad but we just couldn't take a chance." That's how every episode seems to go. They never wanted Ward to find out.
I was mainly thinking about things that Beaver destroyed but as you guys mentioned there were so many times that Beaver tried to cover up some mess he got himself into. He finds out how Ward can make it all better but still they never go to him. Look how he got his money back on those skates and he helped him pay for the accordion. June actually was the one who broke the accordion. It was in perfect condition in the closet. |

Yeah, but he sent her up there for the extension cord.
I'm beginning to realize he's as much of a pain in the neck as she is. He refused to get the orchid. He refused to get the parrot, she had to order him to. He called the boys stupid too many times. He gave in to Fred's bragging and got Wally to run a bad campaign for soph. class president. Beaver had to pry it out of him that he made a mistake in letting Beaver run away. When Beaver "flatted" the tire, he should have adopted the attitude he had in the Richard's Laundry episode. Let's not delve too deeply into it, just be glad the tire is fixed. |

Yeah but Ward was still so hot. I watch it now for Ward not anyone else. The perfect husband and father. No wonder Barbara had a thing for him.

She did? Maybe they should have had a double bed in the bedroom.
You just like him because he had all his hair. Unlike skinhead Fred. Ah, now there's the guy for you! Speaking of Fred, on Beaver and Violet, didn't I see Majel Barrett (from Star Trek) in the cast? I'm thinking she must have been Gwen. Another actress played Fred's former wife, Geraldine. |

Beaver shouldn't have won the prize for it either as the parrot wasn't his pet. But I digress. |

OK you're right about the parrot. I'll give Beaver some points for confessing the whole thing to Miss Landers.
It's a simple sitcom, but it's actually a problem. Your kid shouldn't have lied, but he's also the only kid without a pet. He's only ten, but it's never too soon to teach him a lesson--maybe Ward should have insisted Beaver take the hamster he brought for him, and possibly tell him to take it to school early and explain the whole thing to Miss Landers. |

Right! No way should Ward have gone out at 9 pm to rent Beaver a parrot just because he lied he had one. No way should June have insisted that Ward do it. I do believe, however, Miss Landers put Beaver on the spot once again to come up with a great pet, so he lied he had a parrot. Miss Landers sometimes was a bit passive aggressive and Beaver turned into a victim.
