Default Blanche and Jerry - Season 7

In one of the episodes of Season 7, they have Blanche and Jerry really liking each other and they said they were going to take things slow. How come Jerry was never back on anymore episodes? It would have been nice to have Blanche and Jerry end up together.

Because there was no real thread in the storyline anymore with writers going for the one liners and cheap shot laugh.

Just another example of the lack of continuity. I'm sure the writers never intended for this to be a story arc. Plus, it was the final season anyway so I am sure they figured nothing further was necessary regarding that plot.

Blanche also said she was going to stay with Mel Bushman but we never seen him again.

Yeah, it would have been really nice to see Blanche with Jerry in the series finale.

If there was one thing I didn't like at all about the finale, it was that some characters who should have been included did not appear at all. Miles, Gloria, Angelo, Kate and Michael come to mind immediately (no Angela because Nancy Walker died in March 1992). The episode largely turned out OK as it was, and they may have had trouble squeezing in many outside characters, but none of them were at the wedding?

^---I can see that on one hand, but on the other, this way the focus was just on "our girls" who we came to know and love over seven wonderful years. I kind of like that they didn't cater to possible audience expectations to see more familiar faces around. Although, yes, they did include Stan, but he was a recurring character for all seven seasons, and as Dorothy's ex-husband, it did give him a special place in the episode since Dorothy was getting remarried.

Blanche and Mel decided to stay friends with benefits, and not be a couple. Also- in the episode where the newspaper guy prints Blanche's obituary, she gets flowers from Mel (which was odd, anyhow, as why woulds someone write a note addressed to the deceased), and he said he was back with his old girlfriend (or wife?).

In earlier seasons, Blanche also was supposed to pursue a relationship with John (the blind gentleman), but we never saw him again.
